Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You've already got the image in your sig, so open Edit Sig in User CP, highlight it (click in the text box and ctra+a) and click the Insert Link button on the menu, a context box will pop up and just copypasta the link into it.

I got the DLC recently, and I've now completed Anchorage and The Pitt. I'm at level 18 - should I try Point Lookout next, or finish the main quest (just missing the last bit there)?

You have Broken Steel I presume? If you do, go ahead and finish the main quest if that's what you want to do. If you don't, don't. There's loads of other quests to do in the main Wasteland, or head off to Point Lookout.

Some interesting mods in this, its a short film style thing aka a machinima done in fallout 3, I thought it was fairly enjoyable.

Looked like the .223 pistol or 14mm pistol from F2 made an appearance.

I've gone back to this game today because I never completed it and I'm waiting on Mass Effect 2 to be patched. I has been 18 months since I played and I've put in 35 hours so far on the save.

I went back to Tenpenny Tower to store some items and rest but I can't find my room. All the beds are marked red as I approach which I think means I can't sleep in them. I'm not sure though.

All the residents seem to be gone to and there are no ghouls living there either.

What floor should my room be on?

I think you go straight ahead after going in the front door and take the lift.

    You monster! You,killed everyone! -sob-

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,436 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

Found it eventually. I took the lift to the top floor and walked around the balcony to find it.

I must get back into this aswel once college is done. Still have a good bit to go in the game I'd say. From what I've played of New Vegas so far I think that this is a much more enjoyable game.

Same here. I completed everything (I think) in the game and bought GOTY 6 months ago and still haven't taken it out of the plastic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,436 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

I still have all the DLC to do as well. I got it all free with Playstation Plus.

started playin it only about 2 weeks ago, finally. have about 45 hours into it, finished the main quest, got the game of the year edition with all 5 expansions for 15.99 preowned in game, great bargain.

so far, only played anchorage and mothership zeta; anchorage is absolute tripe, zeta i haven't finished yet but is just as bad. fallout does not work as a straight up shooter at all.

Point lookout and not broken steel, the other one, are the best.

Think you started off with the weakest two, neither are really all that worth playing IMO. My rating of the five DLC pack would probably be

    1) Point lookout
    2) The pitt
    3) Broken Steel
    4/5) Who cares:p

Agree, lookout is really weird, good few side quests aswell. The pitt is pretty hilarious towards the end, maybe its cause I played with such bad karma :D

Mothership zeta is incredibly rubbish

Never actually did finish Point Lookout and Zeta. Oh well. Might get round to them...someday.

I'm reverting to an older save now, I'm giving up on Zeta. Crap gameplay, frustrating beyond belief, crap enemies, appalling weapons.....it's actually sullying Fallouts good name in my eyes, and I can't have that. Going to give Point Lookout a go.

With the PSN down I've come back to Fallout 3. Up to the fifty hour mark now. I'm trying to complete the Head of State quest at the moment. I've run into a problem though. I have done every thing that was asked of me and now I just have to meet the character who gave me the quest at the Lincoln Memorial. Trouble is that he hasn't turned up yet.

I'm hoping if I continue playing he will eventually show up.

Wait 2 days and fast travel to there, that should do it. Failing that check and see if he is camped at the temple of union.

Go into the metro station where you're supposed to meet them, wait at least 24 hours then exit again and they'll all be there. This is a widespread bug and has happened to me on every play-through. The above solution has never failed me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,436 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

So I decided while I was waiting on the guy to show up at Lincoln Memorial that I would do some exploring. I finally found Dogmeat. After 50 hours and completing the main quest I thought that I'd never come across him.

He was only with me a little while and then I accidentally found myself in the Mothership Zeta DLC. I was walking toward a crashed UFO. I'd been told before it had some good loot but I never came across it before. I should have known that it would trigger the Zeta DLC.

I've heard some bad things about this DLC. Any idea how long it is?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,548 ✭✭✭Harps

About 3-4 hours if I remember correctly, its just a corridor shooter so theres not much exploring or anything that would make you want to take your time.

Quite a poor dlc but you get a few decent weapons out of it and the epoxy is useful for repairing weapons so collect as much of that as you can

    Hmmm, longer than I hoped.

I'll make sure to collect some epoxy though.

Trouble is that he hasn't turned up yet.

He texted me earlier to say he was stuck in work and would be a bit late. There was a problem in sector 7-G or some such.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,436 ✭✭✭Josey Wales

I finished Mothership Zeta earlier today. I didn't really enjoy it. I thought it was good fun at the start but there was no variety at all. Just one corridor after another filled with aliens to shoot. There were a couple of challenging sections when the number of enemies chasing you is quite high.

I collected as much of the alien epoxy as I could find. Excellent stuff. I also found the really powerful MPLX Novasurge. Can't wait to stroll around the wasteland with this gun.

I have another Fallout 3 question.

I've just undertaken the Strictly Business quest. I've used the Mesmetron on Red, the doctor from Big Town. Now that she has the collar on I told her to go to Paradise Falls. She just ran off.

Will she get there without me following her?

Have a look at the detail settings - e.g., shadows. Try switching them off a few at a time to see if there's any effect.

You might have success with the unofficial patch if the above doesn't work.

According to the description, it supports version 1.1 and above.

I had this problem, here is the solution, should work for you.
Open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3
    Find the line:

    bUseThreadedAI=0

    change it to:

    bUseThreadedAI=1

Add another line after it and insert:

    iNumHWThreads=2

This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze.

I had the CTD issue with FO3 when I reinstalled on a new machine with Win7

A guy had posted on the Steam forums that the fix was to download VLC player.

I did and it hasn't crashed since. Just throwing that option out there in case anyone is still stuck with crashes.

Hey lads, my GF is finished with Skyrim and is looking for a similar game to play. I recommended Fallout 3 GOTY as I wouldn't mind playing the DLC myself but I'm reading awful stuff on the PS3 version of glitches and freeze problems. I remember when I was playing through FO3 on ps3 before, I had no problems.

Is the GOTY version that bad on ps3?

I have new vegas but didn't get far, I much preferred FO3. I hated Oblivion as well but mostly for it's levelling system. She isn't a big gamer so wanted to suggest something I knew was good. Just was worried it would keep freezing the whole. She got used to it in Skyrim but at least it was patched okay in that.

After more reading, it looks like the GOTY is a disaster with freezing problems where these were mostly fixed in the original FO3. With that, I ended getting FO3 from Gamesnash for 6.99. Bargain!

I might even play through it again myself. In the 4 times I played through it already, I never found that dog.
