Yeah. Oh that's good news thanks. I just thought the only start date was April so that if you didn't have your results from March by then you had to wait till the following year.

im a bit confused...certain firms advertise an april and sept start date, so if you asked them, you could potentially start after the results of the march sitting? when are the march results out does anyone know?

Hi..Could anyone tell me where I could buy the permitted legislation for Company Law without spending a small fortune? I know it's not essential but Company is my last exam to pass so I want to cover all angles.
    Any replies much appreciated.

If you live in or near Dublin then go into Hodges Figgis and you can get a brand new copy for €95. The law section in that book shop is brilliant.

Thinking of re starting study for fe1- did c. 5 years ago and passed 2 easy enough- company & constitutional.

Any advice for taking 3 in March sitting - and hoping for the best?

Where can i get manuals- do online via the lectures from a college?

Or wait until Summer? and relax in between- what prep could I do in between if i not start now?

is the thread where people sell manuals, grids, sample answers notes etc.

As for going for 3 this March, I reckon go for it. You do know you have to sit 4 and pass 3, so you can't just pay for 3.

Anyway if you have the determination and the time then I reckon 8 weeks is enough time to have a stab at 3. Bear in my you should be covering everything, there is no room for leaving stuff out.

I think you should give the March exams a go and try get as much done as you can before them and then if you don't get the 3 just chalk it off as a trial run and say you have the experience of being in the room and sitting them and seeing how you are at doing 5 questions in three hours. If anything it will put you in a better position for the next round and you will have a head start on study. Who knows you could get the 3 this time around.

Check your times and eligibility against the Lawsoc's rules - you must begin the FE1s within five years of graduating, or pass the preliminary exam. Good luck with it - I'm a recovering public servant too.

JC I don't know how you motivated yourself for these tests after a career in the PS!

sorry to plague everyone with these repeated constitutional questions, I prob should set up my own forum at this rate...looking at the pastpapers here and one from march 2008 q1- one of the issues is whether you can waive the right to a jury trial? i know its possible to waive rights in some instances, but does anyone know the law on a jury trial and whether or not this can be waived? thanks :)

apart from the exceptions (minor offense, Special Criminal Court and Military Court), you have to elaborate on the issue of a fair trial in this question, I think.

Is anyone going to the seminar in Blackhall on Friday?
Random question but I don't know the city at all and I was wondering if anyone knew what bus to take to get there from UCD?
    Thanks!

Yes is the answer to the first question. According to Dublinbus.ie, this is the answer to the second random one:
01 Walk approximately 50 metres from UCD, Campus to UCD, Campus
02 Take Bus (39a:Towards Ongar): from UCD, Campus to Blackhall Place, Law Society

Randon good deed to a stranger for today ;-)
It's between the Museum and Smithfield stops on the Luas.

    Hope that helps..

hi all does anyone know anyone that offers one to one tuition for the fe1s, specifically eu, company and constitutional? in the dublin or northern area! thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,270 ✭✭✭JCJCJC

Well in Dublin it'd be hard to beat the various prep schools which specialise in FE1 preparation - there are at least three, speaking for myself I got on well with GCD, I didn't attend the others. In Galway, there are usually loads of people offering FE1 grinds, often post-grad students etc. If you specifically want tutoring in Leitrim, I'd say you should start the hunt in the colleges for a person from Leitrim doing a post-grad who would tutor you at weekends etc when they are presumably home.

Does anyone know from Murray v UK when adverse inferences from silence cannot be drawn? and when they can.

Yeah there are quite a few people doing grinds in Dublin. Try the law society website. The link below:

    http://www.lawsociety.ie/Documents/education/hbs/FE-1GrindsList.pdf

Also if you do a course - some colleges do free repeats and others don't > check it out - might save you some expense!
Perhaps a bit of a waste to enroll on a course now at this late stage as they started some time ago... The Colleges will be happy for you to join up now but that might or might not be in your best interest.
    Best of luck
