    Good News at last !!

We've been handed a triple boost on the injury front with Aaron Lennon, Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul all in the frame for Fulham.

Chris Hughton reported at Thursday afternoon’s pre-Fulham media briefing that all three players have returned to training this week.

Flying winger Aaron underwent minor knee surgery earlier at the end of May and has yet to feature this season.

Michael - who played 58 of our 59 matches last season - has also yet to make his first appearance this term after injuring his ankle on August 10, the day before our opener at Sunderland, while Younes picked up a hamstring problem against Everton on August 14.

“Aaron has had three very good days of training this week after his period of rehabilitation and comes back into our thoughts,” said Chris at Spurs Lodge.

“There are players that we know are ruled out completely this weekend but Aaron is not ruled out completely. We will make a decision in the next couple of days as to whether or not he will play a part at Fulham.”

As for centre-backs Michael and Younes, Chris added: “Both are back in contention after a few days training. To have lost three central defenders at the start of the season was a major blow, so to have two back in contention is a real lift for us.”

Thanks Hatch. That news has just made my day.

Kabul looks the bollox - I have high hopes for this lad.

Bang on! He looks deadly and from what i've seen should we have a fully fit back line and should we need some muscle in midfield I think he has the ball control and the passing abilty to do so superbly. He has been making some passes and giving some really accurate long balls that he had no business as a CB to do. Could be the next Patrick Viera.

I can't begin to describe how important three points is tomorrow. IMO, the next two months are the most crucial of the last five years at Spurs, start the period poorly and I think we'll be minus a manager and firmly in the bottom half of the table by November.

Look at our fixture list (league games bold):

    Fulham (A) 1st Sept
    Goons (H) 15th Sept

    Famagusta (H) 20th Sept
    Bolton (A) 23rd Sept
Carling Cup 3rd rd 27th Sept
    Aston Villa (H) 1st Oct
    Famagusta (A) 4th Oct
    Liverpool (A) 7th Oct
    Newcastle (A) 22nd Oct
    Blackburn (H) 27th Oct

An acceptable return would be a win at Fulham, a performance against the Goons (but not necessarily any points) then wins at Bolton and at home to Villa before another performance against Liverpool, then look at 4 points from Newcastle and Blackburn. All in IMHO of course, 16pts from our first 11 games is not ideal but given the circumstances (injuries, poor start vs Sunderland and Everton, unrest at board level) would be a decent return.

The nightmare scenario is a defeat tomorrow, leaving us in the bottom 3 for the visit of Dial Square. Lose to them then its a trip to a place we never enjoy visiting, and Bolton kick the sh1t out of the soft southern sh1tes. Result? Start October with 3 points, facing two tough away trips and visits from draw specialists Villa and an improving Blackburn side with *wait for it* wingers and a number of inexpensive strikers who know where the net is...:(

Win tomorrow and we regain confidence, lose and we face a tough slog this season.

I'm expecting a good win tomorrow.
Players seem more focused since Everton Debacle.
    Good win over Derby
Good performance and unlucky at Man Utd
Players coming back to fitness now
Craven Cottage will hopefully be the kick start of something good tomorow, in the same way it was last Feb in the Cup.

Fingers crossed, enjoy the game Ronan, bring the pts home mate.

Critical game for us tomorrow. Need the midfield to step up like they did for the last couple of games. Would prefer to see no change at the back but it appears Gardner is injured so Daws or Kaboul comes in. I was at the 2nd last game at Craven Cottage where we blew it with Daws being sent off and conceding a late goal. Last year Chims gone us out of jail. Just need to steady the ship with a couple of goals early doors. Fancy Steed to do the biz and keep his place as highest scorer so far :)

it is mate am watching on tvants package cost me 15euro for the year

Great goal by Berbs laid on nicely by Robbie, first goal down to bad cock up by Neimi bounced off Kabul into his path and he finished it close range, Jenas should have made it 3 nil but takes to much time and loses the ball. And what do you know Fulham equalise 3 mins before halftime. Davies Corner Dempsey scores. Hopefully will continue to be a disaster at the back and we can go on to win 4 or 5:1

    Snake ;)

What a distaster! How a team can be as on-top as Spurs were in that match and still only draw is beyond me! Lucky to draw for a finish!

Which is a waste of €15 cause you're paying for something that's freely available.

Anyway Fulham were a total joke, laughable defence, tactics involved pure long balls and putting 4 up front when behind. The answer to this is obviously to crush them in midfield and hammer 6 or 7 in which we could have easily. But Jol has the tactical nous of a retarded donkey.

Jol out, he's a joke. That was the easiest 3 points outside of Derby if you were watching the game, any other top side would have strolled it.

yeah disaster, can't understand how we didn't get all 3 points, second goal for Fulham took a disaster of a deflection off Rocha Robbo had no chance, 3rd Fulham goal was an overhead kick that didn't really give Robbo a chance, we sat very deep in the last qtr of the match instead of pushing on, Defoe did great to get a ball back in the box but there was no one in the fulham half. Martin Jol left the pitch looking a broken man head bowed down.

    Snake :(

2 points thrown away due to bad luck and bad tactics. Still a lot of positives in my opinion though.

    just not good enough.

I don't think you can say that. I watched the game and for large periods of the game they were far superior to Fulham. Bale looks great. When Dawson is fit again we'll have a much better defence IMO.

am gutted with the result, big blow for us if we dont beat the scum now were in trouble.Dropped off too much at end as usual invited the pressure on us instead of enforcing our obvious greater footballing ability. Why didnt jenas finish himself instead of laying off to keane when in front of goal.Unbelievable sh*t am sick of these wasters at this stage.Travelling over in 2 weeks time will have to pick myself up in the nxt 14 days,at this stage will settle for 3 points against goons as our seasons ambitions coz we wont finish in top 4 or even 5th the way were going.

still early days lads..we only got a point at Craven Cottage last year as well and finished fifth. I think a top 4 finish is too early for this team.

Absolute ****ing disgrace. Shocking result after being 3 1 up. Take the positives from it my arse, its ****in not good enough. Sick of listening to excuse after excuse.

We go in to the Int Break having 4 points from 5 games. Its gonna be a long slog by the looks of it.

Interesting that "The Premiership" didn't analyse the Fulham 'keeper punched the ball while outside the box.....

No excuses, though - we had/created all the required chances, and while you could say Malbranque was unlucky to hit the post while Fulham were poxy with their deflection, the fact is that there were at least 3 or 4 more chances that a better side would have put away.....

Jenas is a great midfielder and free-taker, but he proved today that he ain't no striker....

At one stage we had a free kick in midfield, played it back to Robinson who whacked it up the field (as usual!)!!! What's with that ? Surely there would have been a huge advantage just swinging it in from the free.....at the very least the outcome would only have been as bad as a 50/50 based on Robbo's punt....

I don't think you can say that.
yet again the manager has shown that he is just not up to it, 3 -1 up and cruising and he takes keane off, 3- 2 up, we bring dawson on, play 3 central defenders and invite fulham on to us, they duely oblige and equalise in the 90th minute.
These tactical errors are mounting up,if we want to finish top six, i reckon jol can do it, if we want to finish top four i dont think he is the man.
Fail to get 3 points off the goons in a fortnight and its all over for martin, if its not already.
As someone posted earlier, look at chelsea with ranieri, and chelsea with mourhino. we will never reach champions league with jol.

nope. im now of the opinion that we need to get a new manager.

i have been behind BMJ 100% since his arrival, but now, i just cant do it. he has been compromised in the board room, he continues to make decisions that backfire on the pitch, and he still hasnt installed a backbone in to the squad.

we do without a doubt play better and brighter and more attacking football, but we have no backbone.

why havent we sold defoe, why do we have so many squad players when we need better real first team players? why is ghaly still there, why is staltari still there. why do we keep letting goals in in the last minute of a game?
why is robinson still our number 1 keeper.

we need a enw manager who is more ruthless. we need a wenger, or a murinho or a furgeson. we need to instill fire in to the team.

ive already written this season over, and im already waving goodbye to berbatov next summer. and without him, we have lost our best player for decades.

id love to take mark hughes now. sorry Jol, too many ****s up. this team has suffered enough over the years. we are so close, and we need someone to take us there. JOl is not the one.

and im really really ****ed off.

I've had it with Jol....why take keano off after setting up 2 goals and he playin well just to accomodate defoe.his facial expression coming off said it all..remember defoe gave the bad pass to chimbonda that set up fulham 2nd goal...and to cap it all when 3-2 up with 6 mins to go he brings on daws for steed and invites fulham on for equalizer and they duly oblige....No positives can be taken from the game!!!!!....jols tactics let us down again and everyone make their mind easy...he has 1 game left to save himself v goons....if you saw me at 5 bells on saturday i wanted to throw the television out the window with that rubbish result!!!

Total disaster - another massive kick in the bollox of Spurs fans - when is it gonna end - thank God there's 2 weeks without another game - I hope and pray that we turn over the goons after the int break - I honestly can't see it happening with our mentality and general lack of bottle - hope I'm wrong.

Talk of Kilnsmann and Koeman being lined up - either would do me at this stage of proceedings. We're in dire need of a shake up before the whole season implodes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 592 ✭✭✭galinka

 Not the first time i've said this - but he would not manage a junior team if i had the final say.

I could live with Defoe switch - 3-1 well on top etc.

But Dawson was too much - yes take off Malbranque (i would have done it at ht) - but if you want to give him a run either push Kaboul forward or take off Bale who tired visibly after 75 mins and was playing back on top of Lee - no criticism of Bale i think he has a great future but needs to build up stamina. At that stage we had a back 6 who could not keep out a poor Fulham team.

I won't waste time on Robinson - he's no international keeper unless he has San Marino ancestry.

If he wanted to hold a lead Zokora was a better choice but i would have brought on Taarabt to catch them on the break when they were chasing an equaliser.

When i saw Defoe playing the ball back to nobody in Fulham half i screamed.

The board had the right idea - just no balls or a plan.

If we qualify for Europe it will be despite the manager not because of him. I think he will be there until end of season.
