Just wonderin if any one can tell me if its easy enough to get a scope
with a 3/4" tube that doesn't get much bigger towards the
front....? Its for an old winchester .22, the existing one is nearly
impossible to see through and the way its mounted (solid bar with four screws tapped into the barrel) doesn't allow
for a large front end.... Something second hand would be what i'm lookin for,
i'm just tidyin up an old gun..... Cheers....

How about getting a gunsmith to mount a picatinny rail ..?

That will broaden your choices of rings and scope.

    try www.binoculars.com

or www.opticsplanet.net and look for Malcolm Telescopic.
you might not get these i dont know because they are american companys and because the rest of the world are
all terrorists they wont give us scopes unless ur a uk or austrailian cicitizen, but because there an older style scope you might get away with it
iff not that try bass pro in toronto they have a web page
    canadians arent as fussy

i dont know of any else that might have them

or www.opticswarehouse.com might if your lucky but i doubt it worth a try though

Could you not use see-through mounts (the ones that allow you to use the open sights as well as the scope)?

They raise the scope up a fair bit.

The mounting rail allows you to see the fixed sights but the gun
belongs to my uncle and the eyes wouldn't be the best on him.....
He can shoot well enough with my Krico using the scope.
The Winchester is a nice old gun(model 60), i've dated it around late 1930's and I've spent a bit of time tidyin it up, it shoots well.
I checked those sites but its hard to find something with the 3/4" tube,
the existin scope is a weaver B4, there's a couple on ebay but i'm a
bit wary..... I might just give this a few days and someone might know
    of a 3/4" tube........... Cheers

The mounts I'm talking about take a scope, I wasn't suggesting that you use the fixed sights, just that the mounts are designed to allow you use both. This picture should give you an idea as to what they look like.

You can see how they raise the scope and how the mounting rings allow you to use the fixed sights at the same time.

    Would this solve your problem?

if u buy off of ebay and it turns out to be a crap scope or it was advertised wrong cancle the credit card payment you have 30 days to do this, and send it back reporting the fault.

    system works both ways

That mounting system looks good rrpc, maybe a bit
modern for this gun.. I might chance a telescope the same off
ebay before i change the rail.... I'll try to post a picture
in the hardware thread when ever i get it finished..... Cheers...
