    This has been driving me nuts all day. I can't reach http://del.icio.us from either Firefox or IE. Every other website is fine. I'm on Windows XP. I have tried everything I can think of:
    • I can access del.icio.us using a proxy server, so it's not the site itself
    • Turning off my firewall makes no difference
    • There is nothing in my hosts file (aside from localhost)
    • I have deleted all cookies, internet cache, session data, etc. to no effect
    • I can ping del.icio.us fine, and the DNS lookup works OK

    When I try accessing the site from wget, I see this:
    F:\scratch>wget del.icio.us
    --19:42:05-- http://del.icio.us/
    => `index.html.1'
    Resolving del.icio.us... 69.147.76.140
    Connecting to del.icio.us|69.147.76.140|:80... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... No data received.
    Retrying.

    --19:42:05-- http://del.icio.us/
    (try: 2) => `index.html.1'
    Connecting to del.icio.us|69.147.76.140|:80... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... Read error (Connection reset by peer) in headers.
    Retrying.

    --19:42:05-- http://del.icio.us/
    (try: 3) => `index.html.1'
    Connecting to del.icio.us|69.147.76.140|:80... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... No data received.
    Retrying.

    --19:42:05-- http://del.icio.us/
    (try: 4) => `index.html.1'
    Connecting to del.icio.us|69.147.76.140|:80... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response... No data received.
    Retrying.

    And so on.

    I ran SpyBot and CCleaner yesterday but I restored the registry to a backup to eliminate that as the cause.

    I'm on NTL broadband. Is it possible they are blocking del.icio.us? Could someobody else with NTL try this address?

    Any other ideas? Thanks!

    NTL BB here and, yup, borked. traceroute is fine though.

    I consistently have problems with not being able to access certain websites from NTL, whereas I'm able to access them fine from elsewhere. Archive.org and members.lycos.co.uk are two that I'm having trouble with at the moment. Thinking of sending them a letter of complaint for all the good it will do.

    The lycos address shows the same behaviour as del.icio.us (archive.org is working for me).

    I've sent them an email. If I hear anything I'll update this thread.

    The frontpage of archive.org works but you can't actually load archived webpages.

    I called NTL a couple of times about this. The first time was two weeks ago and they promised to have a technical person call me back.

    That didn't happen so I called again yesterday. Again, they promised to have someone call me back. That didn't happen but today I find that I can access del.icio.us for the first time in some weeks. Maybe they finally looked into it and hit the "unblock del.icio.us" button.

    There could be 2 issue's that come to mind straight away.
    1) Mtu to high and P-Mtu blocked. Try lowering your MTU in the reg, default is 1500 windows.
    2) The ip range of the destination address is dampened by your ISP for a period of time because of unstable BGP network on the web sites side or vice versa.

    Thanks,
    Noclee.
