    Hello Everybody,

I was unfortunate enough to have the drivers side mirror glass busted last Saturday night. So much for the good intentions of leaving the car and getting a taxi home.

It is a 1995 Mercedes C280 Sport. Can anybody answer the following questions for me :-

Is the glass the same for all C Class Mercedes, as mine appears to be tinted ?

Who could supply such glass ?

Many thanks for any help with this.

They should be able to help you. Alternatively you could try your local Mercedes main stealer.

If you go to the stealership expect a shock, for my W220 it cost me €300 plus vat, nasty surprise I tell ya. Have you tried fleabay?

micksgarage.ie are offering a glass kit for €15 while Otto are looking at €48 + VAT.

    Why such a difference ?

Still it's a long way back from €300. Did they replace the whole mirror for that ?

It depends on the mirror - some have a heater element, some have a convex area for a wider view. Be sure you are getting quotes for exactly the same glass.

01 E class has auto dimming and costs a small fortune to replace.

€300 for auto dipping, dimming, heated and convex area, and it was just the glass, I'd hate to replace the whole thing.

Car has cost me close to €1600 in repairs over the last week (2 ball joints, seat sensor and Airmatic compressor).

avantgarde has blue glass, elegance and classic has green, not sure about sport.
