Not your cars' history, but where did you start out in your motoring journey? Noticed a lot of threads lately asking to recommend first cars to people so just wondering what was your first....second... third etc. etc. and in the case of junkyard, your 458th or whatever the count is at today! Also if anythings in the pipeline, your future car.

I know this is pretty similar to the whats everyone driving thread but theres some nice cars on there S3's and the like so just curious as to where people started out.

Mine is ridiculously short and uninspiring:
    89' 1.5 Petrol Corolla
    98 1.6 Vectra
Hoping to buy an Altezza as soon as I finish college.

Yeah, I did set the bar pretty low:D

Will that before or after the Merc S280 -VB-:D ? Actually what kind of S280 do you like(ie W220, W140 etc)?

In spite of my name, I drive a Volvo S40(the old one). Embarrasing or what?(I was so embarrassed that I decided to say nothing in the 'So what does everybody drive section')

And I've driven others(including an E34 with that fantastic straight 6), but the Volvo is the only one I could call mine:D.

What I want is an E34(they might be a 19 year old design, but they are still a brilliant car IMO) but I fear that there are no good ones around the place, and more importantly, I know my bank balance cant afford the expense of running a BMW for now, followed by an E39(is there such a thing as E39-itus, because I think I suffer from it, I love the E39 far too much), followed by an E46 Coupé(6 pot), followed by the E92(6 pot). Actually, like the pringles, once I start, then I won't stop with BMWs :D.

Some company cars among these - but this is my history.......

    1981 Datsun Cherry 1.0?
    1982 Renault 5 cc?
    1980 VW Golf 1.1
    1982 VW Golf 1.3
1982 VW Golf GTI (twin headlight version - I'll probably buy another at some stage......)
    1989 VW Passat 1.6
2000 VW Bora 1.4 (still have it - will have it until it dies:confused: for some reason - I love it)
    2003 Alfa 156
    2004 Alfa 156
    2001 Volvo S60 T5 (What a machine - the best)
    2003 Volvo S60 2.0 Auto
    2001 BMW 320d Touring
    2001 Audi A6 Avant 2.4 TDI Quattro
    2001 BMW 530i Shadowline (2nd best)
    2002 Honda CRV Auto
    2002 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0
2003 VW Passat 1.9 TDI Auto
2005 Skoda Ocatvia 1.9 TDI Auto (DSG)
2006 Opel Zafira  It's practical  Honestly :o

Ok - a lot of these were company cars for 3 - 6 months, but I did use them as my main everyday motor. Others I owned personally (all the VW's :D) and a couple of others.

Nope, just a very very very short attention span. Been through as many jobs in that time too, never got the sack though.

He has ranged from 1.0 Corsa to Mivec Lancers to GSi Nova's and Astras to 1.4 Civics to Pajeros. Current car is another GSi Astra but theres a 4WD Sierra in the yard and always a new buy and sell/Autotrader in the glovebox.

    94 2.0 Rover 620

97 1.9D Peugeot Partner (current Van)

    95 Opel Corsa (brutal car)
91 Nissan Micra (super car as long as you don't crash it...it's made of paper)!
03 Nissan Primera (dreadful, dreadful, underpowered piece of crap this one)
....then I watched waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Top Gear for about a year and got really into cars...
Now I drive a 01 325Ci (love it...superb car...and was lucky to get myself a really nice example).

My next car will probably be, I hate to say it, a 330Ci...or an M3 if I can afford it. Of course if I start becoming all sensible and start rearin' young uns I'll probably get a 535 or something.

If I was to stray away from those lovely BMW straight 6's I'd love a Brera but I don't trust their reliability yet!

Go for it! They're soft in the bends(for a BMW), but the straight 6 growl is fantastic above 4,000 rpm(and at exactly 2,000 rpm there is a beautiful sound too),theres not enough straight 6 growling before that for me, even though they are one noisy car from the outside, the 520i is slow enough(for a 2 litre, my friends one is slower than a 120 bhp 1.6 CRX:eek:), but I've been in the heavier E39 520i at 180 km/h on a German Autobahn, so it its far from 1 litre Polo slow, it gets up to about 160 km/h fine, but it needs to be worked hard above this, but the engine revs all the way to 6,500 rpm without complaint, and sounds all the better for it.

The E34 was supposed to be one of the best made and most reliable BMWs, the interior is still of better quality than many a new car, it still looks great, the only thing about the E34 which really lets it down is the circular headlights, they just look so out of date. It still rides well, its still a comfy car IMO too.

It was blue (resprayed - not a VW colour). It had some red features, but not nearly enough to consider it blue/red.:)

    1996 Opel Astra 1.6 5 door Hatch
2001 Nissan Almera 1.5 4 door salon (boring but reliable)
1993 BMW e36 316 4 door salon (excellent drive with great economy)

Will have a BMW e39 by end of year. Perhaps a 02 525d.
