Hey lads, just looking at the quad cores on Komplett - what is the difference between these two quad cores? One is Intel Xeon, the other is just core 2 quad.

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=330170 (Xeon)

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=330169 (Core 2 Quad)

This is a slight price difference, so was just wondering how they're different. I know the Core 2 Quad is 2.4ghz and the other is 2.13 ghz, but sure thats not all the price difference is is it?

The Xeons are basically Workstation/Server processors.
You can also get boards that are dual socket so you could have two quad core xeons in it for 8 cores in total.
However most of these boards require ECC ram which is more expensive than normal ram.
I'd stick with the generic Q6600 as this is more than enough for anyone's needs.

The X3210 has an 8x multi, the Q6600 has a 9x multi, 8x266=2.13, 9x266=2.4. Basically only the speeds are different but the multi will matter if you're overclocking (you'll want higher i.e. the Q6600). Those Xeons are LGA775, exactly the same as desktop cpu's they don't need anything special and will work in any core 2 motherboard.
