After next years series, Doctor Who will take a break for a year, to resume in 2009. This is to allow David Tenant to take up his role in Hamlet. However, the BBC has stated that there will be three 90 minuite specials dotted through the year (preseumably the Chirstmass special will be one) to keep interest going. It should also mean that the fiming schedule may continue longer than expected to allow those specials be filmed before he heads off.

So, this is in tandem with the RTD wants to go at then end of next year. If nothing else it shows that DT must be committed to the show and coming back, otherwise they would simply have replaced him. It also should put to bed the rumours that he was going (sort of true) for good (now confimed not to be true)

It could also confrim that there will be no RTD, and that the show will head off in another direction altogether.

    Thoughts?

Well, I am glad that David Tenant is staying with the show, he is a great actor (I adored him in Casanova) and a credit to the show.
