Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Basing international football off friendlies is unfair. My problem is with competitive matches. The majority I've seen lately are just dull! Teams don't seem as cohesive as in the past. In the world cup knockout rounds, 2 out of 3 matches were simply boring. This is nuts when you consider the stakes. I'm not looking for free flowing football but a few chances on goal would be nice.

Some of the players don't seem to have the interest in it anymore. I think a few of them see International football almost as a nuisance these days, not saying all players by any means but there are some. It's all about the champions league now, that has overtaken international football as the top level of the game. Most of the top club sides now (Barcelona,Chelsea,AC Milan etc.) would beat almost all of the top international teams. That never used to be the case. No longer are Germany and Italy and Argentina the best teams in the world, now it's Chelsea and United and Real Madrid etc.

Nah I don't think thats true. When Argentina are at there best its hard to kick off the ball & the Brazilians have such great stamina they just run at you all day long & don't get tired.

But of course we'll never know for sure.

Given the sheer amount of club games taking place over a single season, im not suprised that internationals have been on the wane.

The right way, was the way the Premiership operated between 1992-1998. Eight games would have saturday afternoon kickoffs, one would be the focus of the Super Sunday programme, with another one on a monday night. European football entailed a knowck out competition for the UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup, and a six game haul for the champions league pre Christmas. After Christmas it was knockout. The FA cup was played on similar weekends, but was not hampered by the European Persuits, while the Coca Cola Cuo was always a run out for reserve teams.

Now, with the Inter Toto Cup, the Extended Champions League, and a lengthier league cup and the fixture shifting which comes with European Football, we must expec a higher pressure on players, and as a result they are glad to get a weekend off, but internationls dont always get that luxury
