Import Duty and Ordering Online

    Apologies in advance because I know this has probably been done to death. I had a quick browse of the first 3 pages but couldn't find anything...

    Any idea how much import duty (% wise) is charged on clothes coming from the US?

    I think it's in the region of 20-25% but I'm not sure. And is it on total purchase and shipping price?

    Considering how strong the euro is now against the dollar even after import duty it still might work out at a good deal.

    EDIT: The Rule would appear to be that Vat is charged on imported goods at a rate equivalent to the rate that similar goods would attract here. So that's 21% isn't it??

    So if I was to order $400 worth of stufff, shipping's $75, that's $475 total, or €350..

    €350+21%= €423 as the total price I'd have to pay???
