Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The aim of proffessional wrestling is to entertain, - it is not, in the true sense of the word, a sport.

That said, Pro Wrestlers are highly trained athletes who take great risks in the ring.

In terms of your question, yes, the outcome of all matches is scripted.

For example, Wrestler A may be told that he is going to lose to wrestler B by disqualification, or by interference from another wrestler, or simply by being cleanly beaten by them.

However, how the two wrestlers get to that point is largely their business.

On occasion, wrestlers have been known to refuse to lose matches, or to refuse to lose them cleanly, insisting, for example, that a match will finish with their opponant hitting them with a chair or other foreign object so as to make them look stronger ("he couldn't beat me clean").

99% of the time though, when you watch a wrestling match, the outcome is determined by the person in charge (or booker) with the aim of furthering a storyline, or making one wrestler look strong or weak.

As I said at the beginning, it's entertainment, not sport, but if you were to think it's all fake and nobody really gets hurt, you'd be deluding yourself.

Going into a match the wrestlers will know who's going to win. Some matches would be more scripted than others though. For example, the matches you'd see on WWE tv would be pretty much all scripted because they've got time constraints that they have to keep within. On non-televised shows and on indy shows, wrestlers might not script a match as much if they're talented enough to call it in the ring

It's not anymore real or fake than a film is, apart from the wrestlers doing the "stunts" themselves
