Irish Broadband SMTP Server?

Having a bit of an issue with Irish Broadband and Thunderbird - as in the other day I couldn't send outgoing Emails. It says that the connection to 'smtp.irishbroadband.ie' has failed.

It was working fine, upto a couple days ago when it went suddenly. I've tried modifying the settings, changing the address, everything except calling IBB support - it even says in the installation guide that the server is: smtp.irishbroadband.ie

Anyone have any ideas? Would it be a conflict or issue with the new version of Thunderbird?

    Thanks in advance...

See if you can telnet to the server (start->run->cmd, telnet smtp.irishbroadband.ie 25) If you can connect u'll get a response like
    220 smtp2.irishbroadband.ie ESMTP Exim (IRISHBROADBAND) Mon, 10 Sep 2007 21:17:41 +0100
