Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Media Centre in Vista - What's the point??

    Hey, I got my new laptop about 3 weeks ago, it has Vista Ultimate so it came with Media Centre bundled into it...

    In the 3 weeks I've barely used it, I can't see the point when I can use WMP instead... I've heard that it's very handy when you get something like a TV tuner card or something, but is there any other reason I would use it over WMP or something else?

    Yes, you really would want a tuner to make the most of it. If you want to use MCE for watching TV, managing all your music and video as well as listening to the readio, then it's a handy one-stop-shop. In this case, you can use it as a PVR, doing away with DVDs or tapes. It doesn't seem to like DVB-S, however.

    The point of media centre is for when you want a UI and are using a big screen like projector or TV connected to the computer.

    Using WMP & the keyboard/mouse is not practical in such a situation which is why media centre comes into it's own with a remote so you can sit far away from the computer but still control media playback.

    It's also a TV DVR\Music\Pictures\Videos\Movies playback & more with plugins.
