Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You're right about McGeady. I noticed possession ended when he gets the ball. He tends to go on a little run and lose it, and seldom finds a man with a pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,538 ✭✭✭PiE

McGeady really should stick to skinning part-time plumbers in the SPL. So far out of his depth it's almost comedy.

    Shay saves us.

I'm looking forward to Staunton's post-match analysis. It will be another fairy tale - Grimm.

and the crowd manage to get Hunt sent off..

    he got the ball first.

disgraceful refereeing, cant handle the pressure involved, shouldn't be involved in the match.

FFS. Nothing wrong with the him. Really poor decision for me.:mad:

Theres the final nail in the coffin anyway
Very slow paced game being played, a bit painful to watch tbh

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

This gives Stan a nice little get out clause.

    FFS Ref.

Jesus this is horrible to watch. We don't deserve a result with a performance like this, but even still - joke of a red card.

    World Cup 2010 anyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Really weak refereeing with that red card. Its over and hopefully so is Stauntons reign as manager.

referee's really losing it now, couple of really weak decisions..

this'll end with another red for an Irish player....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,841 ✭✭✭Running Bing

    Wow!

Its rare to see an irish side in such an important game show such a lack of passion and heart.

Completely disorganised and devoid of creativity.

I have never once seen McGeady play for Ireland and be decent, what is he still doing starting? Surely the new Gary Doherty?

As for Stan.....well that is probably the only good thing that will come of this debacle of a match. Problem is does anyone have any faith the the FAI to get someone better? Irish football is in the dregs at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,889 ✭✭✭Third_Echelon

Ah well... there's another tournament down the drain.....

Nothing to cheer about since 2002.

potential 8 year gap between tournaments (if we even qualify for the next world cup).... for feck sake! ah!

Babybing the really pathetic thing is we have a good crop of young players that a decent manager could do things with. It is a shame that because of inept FAI decisions they won't get a chance to play in Euro2008 and we won't get a chance to watch them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,203 ✭✭✭Attractive Nun

    Jesus open goal! Feck sake.

shame it has taken us a red card to come into this game. good aul irish underdog c**p. i think we have a better chance now, 1 - 1 :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,680 ✭✭✭Tellox

very disorganised although slightly unlucky - didnt have a clue on what to do with an open goal.

dont see why all the guns are being fired at stan - having a better manager wont give us any better players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,452 ✭✭✭Time Magazine

He'll pick our best players and get the best out of them though, Tellox.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

Jesus! That was nasty for Dunne. Why did the ref rush to get him off the itch so quickly, he was hardly faking it.

Errr because with a better manager the team would be better organised and he would know to play players in the preferred positions. Thats the main thing I cannot understand about Staunton, why play players out of their normal position?

So we fail to qualify again, and the tragedy in this case is the injustice of Hunt's sending off will save Stan.

How ironic that a player who was overlooked by Staunton and showed him up for the inept manager that he is, will be the one to save his job?

ref wants to give us everything now, he knows he got it wrong totally went with the crowd

    BULLSH1T

There is more than enough quality in the side. Duune is a top centre half, Given is one of the best goalkeepers in the PL, OShea is good enough for one of the biggest clubs in the world, Keane is a quality striker. Add to that Doyle, Hunt and McShane are all good players and there is more than enough quality there and that is not even mentioning Duff, Finnan and Carr.

Stan just makes us look awful and we have a horrible attitude.

WE SHOULD BE PLAYING IN EURO 2008 WITH THE PLAYERS WE HAVE

and that is the saddest thing about it.

    Before anyone starts deluding themselves.

This WAS NOT the referee's fault.

    Not one bit.

Nasty 2nd half, overall we played as good as we are and they were better.

not a band wagon jumper, but Stan needs to go. The players we have are too good to be wasted on a poor manager. we have good experience and excellent youth, stan just doesnt pick the right players. left back playing rightful and right full playing right back. bringing on douglas and gibson on saturday ahead of players like hunt, reid & long.

Stans a good man the FAI shouldnt have put him in this position by giving him the job.

and Dunne should be our captain

It was an awful performance by both Ireland and the referee. The blame rests with Staunton and the Irish team, obviously, but it's still entertaining to reflect on a shambles of a refereeing performance.

No but it probably is the refs fault that Staunton has an excuse not to stand down. He will blame the red card. If he has any honour he should step down.
