Folks, I'm looking at ordering a Dell Vostro 1500 for college. Can a home user buy a Vostro direct from Dell as long as they pay the VAT or are they restricted to selling to business customers with VAT numbers. Cheers, Rael

No need to be a business - just pay the VAT and that's it - they never ask for a VAT number and just put your own name in the 'Business Name' field when ordering.

What he said... The companies claim the VAT back themselves, so you pay the full amount and if you're a company you get VAT back, if you're not, you don't...

I got a Vostro myself, lovely laptop...
