Approach at a good speed for the road and traffic conditions, often this would be in second gear so that you can have a good look around the roundabout before you enter.

You need to approach it at a speed slow enough so you can stop if needs be but fast enough so you won't stall in second gear. I'd guess 20-40km/h

It would depend very much on the size of the roundabout and the sightlines. A very large roundabout, with good sightlines and little or no traffic could be approached at a much greater speed than a small busy, urban roundabout with reduced/obstructed visibility.

Generally 2nd or 3rd gear on the average car.
