    Hi,
The IT soc in maynooth is building a server atm and we're having lots of problems. We cant get it to POST.

We've replaced the motherboard, changed the memory (on the manufactuer approved list) and tried 2 different CPUs. The PSU appears to be working (according to our multimeter). Stripping it back to just 1 processor and 1 stick of ram and no hds/dvd drives doesnt make any difference.
It makes a hissing sound which we think is coming from the processors. This sound was also present in the 1st motherboard we got.
Theres no warning lights or sounds coming on. And theres nothing on screen.

The manufacturer hasnt been very helpful, they just refer to the manual, and have said they'd replace the board again.

    Any suggestions?

The mother board is an Asus

    with 2 opterons

Well from the sounds of it you have change pretty much everything CPU:Motherboard:RAM & no combo worked ?

I cant really suggest anything else other than try the last item the PSU and see what happens even if it's a crappy one just to see if the system posts.
