( aka next in the breed of super affletic next generation QBs, the new model of athletic QBs)

    From September 17, 2007 Sports Illustrated, pages 10 & 12, no kidding:

"Vince Young directed Tennesse to the win, contributing 22 rushing yards to the team's total of 282."

"New England won 38-14 behind Tom Brady, who completed 22 of 28 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns."

Pretty comparable performances don't you think? Vince Young directed Tennesse to the win by rushing for 22 yards??? Just as good as Brady's 22 for 28 for 3 touchdowns.

    Vince Young's game stats:

    32 Vince Young TEN QB 11 18 61.1 18.0 78 4.3 78.0 0 1 5 27.8 21 1 0 1 47.9

11 of 18 for 78 yards. Passing rating of 47.9. 11 rushes for 22 yards. He did not direct the Titans to the win. At best, he did not cause them to lose.

SI should not have even mentioned his name in the game report. All other winning quarterbacks had better games.

Last year when Rex Grossman put up similarly poor performances the Bears were said to have won in spite of him. Vince Young plays like crap and he "directs" the Titans to wins was all we heard last year and continuing on to this season. PATHETIC.

THE PROTOTYPE FOR THE NEW SUPER-AFFLETE QB!

The difference is that Young is surrounded by rubbish and the Bear are one of the best teams in the league. Add to the fact he hasn't completed a full season, and his record as a starter is 9-5 (and most of them comeback wins) and you'll see there definitely is something about the kid.

As for the report, seeing as he scored the winning touchdown after a 61 yard drive, I think its fair to say he had a hand in them winning

His record is 9-5, well Grossmann led his team to the Superbowl, but everyone rags on him. Lol who can resist the mighty affletes whopping 66.7 passer rating. thats enough to put him on the Madden cover in my book. Peyton who? Tom who?:D Whos gonna be on the next Madden cover, the affletic Tavarius Jackson, or maybe Jamarcus Russell will complete a pass or two and he be the one, or maybe the "warrior" Steve Mcnair....

Don't be ragging on Steve "tough as nails" McNair's chord. Funny thing is that McNair was heavily critiscised for his style when he initially came into the league. "A rushing QB, wtf?" Now, it seems that if you aren't mobile - you aren't good.

At the end of the day, it will always be easier to market the likes of Vick, Young, [insert name of lighting fast black QB here]. Their 60 sec highlight reel will always look more impressive than Brady's (or Manning's, or Delhomme's, or Favre's). And very few will ever appreciate the tough qualities of limited pocket passers like Pennington or Brad Johnson who find ways to win despite their physical attributes.

The short term and the now doesn't / shouldn't matter. He who produces the most over the long haul will ultimately be considered the best. And sport's illustrated is always full of sh!t in any case.

    Daunte Culpepper anyone?

No, the Bears got there in spite of him ;)

McNair's knees are gone, he can't help that. Grossman is inaccurate and commits too many turnovers. Young - well I remain to be convinced. It's all very Michael Vick so far although Vick had more talent that Young did, particuarly on the defensive side.
