hey guys. im starting a computer course in dit next september and thought i would try to get some certs before then. The lpi/linux+ seems not too difficult for starters and linux interests me(compared to ccna or the like). Im fairly handy on a computer anyway so i think i could manage it. I'd prefer to get some help rather than to self-study so,
Anyway my question is, has anyone used the School of Computer Technology in sandycove (http://www.sct-ireland.com/) for any course and were they good? I'd prefer not to have to trek into the city centre and this place seems a bit cheaper than others.

    Hey,

You shouldnt really fork out money to do a Linux+ course, to be honest if got yourself a good self study book (Sybex, Prentice-Hall) and a decent working Linux distribution (Suse, Redhat) then you should breeze through the Linux+ in 3-4 weeks, putting say 4-5 hours a day in?.

All those courses are extremely overpriced, save your money!!.

    Hum lol
    Just my opinion :-)

Anyway what pays more ? Linux or Unix ? I know there are a few companies looking for Unix (IBM/Solaris...) specialists in Ireland.
    And they pay pretty well.

Yeah. After looking at the prices I quickly found this out. Self study all the way...
