Looking at getting a stand mixer. Kitchen Aid is an obvious choice, but by god is it expensive.

    Any recommendations out there?

Kenwood chefs would probably be a good choice, I think there are 2 models out now, but they can be got very reasonably in sales.
I personally think the older models were better and am on the lookout for a good 2nd hand one.

Contact Nisbets about delivery to Ireland - or if you have friends in the UK get them to bring one over. Big savings on High Street prices.

I have a Kenwood Chef which is around 24 years old - I 'inherited' it 10 years ago when my sister-in-law moved to the US. It's never given any trouble and I wouldn't be without it.
So while they're expensive, they really are dependable.

Check link above, I got this, Kenwood Patissier about a year ago in Arnotts. I got a cream one, it was about 250 Euro I think.

Way cheaper than Kitchen Aid obviously - aren't they around 500 Euro?
I can't compare it with any other mixer because I've never had one before this.

Alternatively what about something like these.....

I too have inherited a kenwood, it must be about 40 years old, I think she got it as a wedding present. I have found it impossible to fet pieces for it tho. Any ideas anyone. the base of the mixing bowl is a little melted so would love to get a new one. Plus want to get a new dough hook, the old one has gone walk about.
So to sum up, its still workin after 40years, and we're a very productive baking family. Used a few times a week anyway.

Ebay is a good place to start looking .. I found the dough hook there in 5 seconds! Also there are loads of places on the Internet that do spares for household appliances, mostly based in the UK. A quick Google found this one for example ..
