They look like pimp'd versions of regular audis to me. I would imagine the majority of motorists wouldn't even notice either if they passed them in traffic.

What? Stop will ya, I'm far from a fan of audi but I can't understand how you can make such sweeping generalizations about peoples opinions of this car.

I said 'motorists' not 'enthusiasts'. Of everyone I know, I would say that maybe 5 or 6 would spot a R8 in traffic.
Everyone I know would spot a decent classic or supercar.

I am not knocking them really, I admire a discreet performance car.

thats total rubbish!
maybe the s5 will blend it for most people but the R8 looks amazing
in the flesh and is a total headturner. it doesn't 'blend' in at all.

To your average motorist, the R8 is no different to a 6 Series, Alfa GT, CLk or Hyundai Coupe.

Ten years ago, I might have disagreed with Prospect. These days, however, most average motorists won't notice even a 911, much less a sporty-looking Audi.

I am not trolling, or trying to start a row.

Test it. Next time you are in a car with someone (obviously not a motoring enthusiast), ask the to identify some rare cars, like an AMG SL or something. Sure they will probably say it is a merc, but it is the same answer they'll give you if you point out a SLK.

Ditto for a R8 and a 1.8L TT.

In fairness to the normal everyday joe soap it does look like a tarted TT, so might not turn that many heads. I dont like the styling of it but maybe in the flesh it does look better....

thats just damned beautifull. Clarkson reviewed it on the TG website the other day - said it is possible the best car he has ever driven, and would prefer it to the bay lambo he bought.

Granted that silver one does look better than the one in the garage that was posted earlier - the earlier one looks terrible with the black plastic and the different color sides....IMO that is!

ah dont mind clarkson - he says that about every second car, he got it right with the f430 though

really just looking at that r8 i cant believe how good white looks on cars these days.

edit: actually realise its silver now! first glance... still, i like the r8. cant wait to see one in person
