Hey ash, that's the guy who screamed at me "Car Thief" when I asked could I have a look inside. I was a bit taken aback.

A - Ok I was unshaven and wearing a grey echo unltd hoodie

    but

B - I had just pulled up in my S320 LWB to collect my kid.

This happened outside the coffee shop on St. Mary's road, total twat of a guy.

Maybe he assumed you had robbed the S320 and then spotted a better car to steal ;)

I would be a bit taken aback if some stranger came up to me and asked for a look inside my car, especially if I had something pretty unique.

Saw the new Fiat 500 (Cinquecento) on James' St. this morning - being driven by a guy in Fiat overalls etc. but no sign of trade plates or anything and the car had "500" plates on it only ! Obviously being driven (illegally) to some promo / garage. (apologies - no camera with me so no pic !)

Nice looking supermini - can see it doing well here esp. with the number of colour/interior option combos etc.

Just saw a bright yellow one on Talbot Street 08-D-5003 - some ould lad driving it

There was a promo launch of the 500 in the IFSC on Tuesday, there were a few cars covered during the day...to be dramatically uncovered at some point I presume:rolleyes:

Saw an absolutely spotless and shiny Aston Martin DB6 (this one https://www.cartell.ie/ssl/servlet/beginStarLookup) on Pearse Street at lunchtime today, whoever owns it is certainly looking after it.

That 120d was (or is) the demo at Joe Duffy, at least that's what they told me last week when I was shown round it. Nice, but feels very small, even more so than the normal 1-series, but for starting at €48650 (comes down in July) , well :eek::eek:

The salesman in Joe Duffy said, and I quote:

Sales bloke: "If you can wait until July 1st, do it, a lot of our prices our dropping"
Me: Are you not upping the spec and charging the same?
    Sales Bloke (looking bemused): "No".

Just because you can buy it, doesn't mean you can park it anywhere you want.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,993 ✭✭✭✭Wishbone Ash

I don't see too many of these around. Then again, the thoughts of spending €70,000 odd and coming home with a Citroen doesn't have much appeal.

The same happened to a family friend a little while ago when his DB9 got clamped. He was literally 5 minutes past the time limit and he got done, the clampers were still there and all. They fúckers delight in getting the exotics. ;[

I hate that, most people would aspire to own or have the ability to own something like that, yet all they seem to do is begrudge the people who have them.

It seems to be a strong Irish trait I'm afraid.

    I once heard someone say,

In any other country if a person sees a sucessful person living in a nice house they say to themselfs, one day if I work hard I will have that, but when an Irish person sees it they say to themselfs, I'm going to get that ******.

Those vehicles were illegally parked and therefore merited the appropriate action.

What has begrudgery got to do with it?

There are hundreds of 'ordinary' vehicles clamped each day. People just tend to take pictures of the more exotic ones. It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to the clampers what type of vehicle it is.

I know. I wasn't refering to the fact that it got clamped but that they got some delight out of it :)
