    hi All,

Was wondering if any E46 owners might be able to help me answer a question..

On my E46 there is an expansion tank which hangs off the end of the radiator (item #3 in this diagram http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/s/u/187.png )... On mine this seems quite loose, like just the water fittings are holding it to the rad, i can only imagine it must vibrate like hell when going along...

I have a leek that i can't track down and think it might be coming from this area... can anyone else tell me if their expansion thank feels loose? there's probably a plastic clip or two on mine that have gone.... i'd imagine it should be screwed / clipped fairly good to the radiator..

    Thanks

Opps didn't include the engine... it's a 318i, but the 316i of that year has exactly the same engine (1.9 M43) just a few less horse power in the ECU... have you any ideas?

My problem is i can't find anywhere it's leaking.. I'm wondering when the car is going along and the expansion tank is vibrating is it leaking a tinny bit each time...

Also all of the hoses in these have "push" fit connectors with O-rings to seal them, i'm wondering have a few of these O-rings become hard/brittle, hence not sealing as well.... I thought BMW would do an O-ring kit, but they don't seem to...

Abbey Seals do little boxes of assorted O rings afaik , always a useful thing. There is a spot at the front of the head where it can leak , you may not see it easily.
Could be a head gasket too , its easy to do though.
