So i was thinking about buying this off komplett, with a couple of changes. this is what i was thinking of:

    Cooler Master Mystique 631, Black
    Corsair Powersupply 620W Black, ATX/EPS,
    MSI P965 NEO-F V2, P965, Socket-775,
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
    Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 4096MB CL5,
Point of View GeForce 8800GTS 320MB,DDR3
    Samsung SpinPoint T166 400GB SATA2
    Samsung DVD±RW burner, SH-S182D, 18x,
    Creative SB X-FI Xtreme Gamer
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Eng
    Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3200 Laser,

    €1300 ex vat

So can ye have a look and see what do ye think? I haven't a clue about motherboards and PSU's so i didn't change them. R the standard ones alright? Also a question about the cpu. R Quad cores wort it at the moment? Or would I be better off buying an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz 1333Mhz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan? also any opinions on the gfx card? All the possible options for adding in r on the komplett intel gamer page. Yur comments r greatly appreciated :)

Regarding this PC, Given that its a Dell, does that mean overclocking it is a no no?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

I think theres like some sort of profile thing have built into it or something that overclocks it somewhat.. I cant be quiet sure..

aside from commenting on the system for sale. any comments about the komplett system?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,814 ✭✭✭TPD

Looks quite nice, but try putting together a similar build on ankermann-pc.com (I think) as I have found them to be cheaper.

Dammit someone else nabbed that system that was for sale :(.

Anyway. SO TPD, i checked out that site and u can't get the same type of spec with them. it only lets u change a couple of things. They don't seem to offer Quad cores or any soundcards. Also only lets u have up to 2GBs of ram.

tbh your better off with komplett suppa imo

That motherboard is spot on, I have 4GB of the CL4 version of that memory in mine and she's absolutely rock solid.
I have the same gfx card as well and have no complaints about that...
I'd drop the sound card from it if I were you, it's not all that neccesary tbh.
and make sure you select the 64 bit version of Vista, 32 bit won't support that much ram...

onboard sound cant be put in the same league as the xfi tbh if your a serious gamer get the xfi its only €90 i think and will make a massive differance

agreed on x64 vista though get it

The sale on this fell through(I'm sure seller will explain why if you pm him). The machine may come on the market again soon...

so i've pretty much settled on the above config. With the exception of having to change the OS. Was just wondering wether people think which of the following 3 64 bits OS's
    Vista premuim
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=331408

    Vista ultimate
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=331433

    Xp pro
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=335638

So I'm still not sure about vista yet. To me it just seems laggy and memory hogging. Is actually better than xp? also is it worth the extra money to go for vista ultimate or should i just stick to XP Pro?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

Personally I wouldnt go for vista.. definitely not ultimate theres only security issues different from home premium which most people I think wouldn't need!

I got 32bit and 64bit home premium and hated them at 1st there gravy but after awhile they went to poo also had XP Pro which was much better but had driver issues so now im on Windows XP home(32bit) with 4GB of ram(3.25GB being used) and everything is peachy

    My 2 cents

I've used all three, and with the exception of a few minor teething problems (software related), Vista Home premium is spot on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭Grim.

vista all the way tbh jeff useing x64 home premium and have had no problems what so ever. eccept a few problems with creative xfi drivers ie mic input becoming destorted (fixed by restarting) but thats it no other probs at all.

actually is the service pack out yet?I heard about it awhile back it was coming out soon... nearly a few gigs though :PGrim I remember back when you said you got loads of blue screens and crashes all because of vista lol and you went back to xp :P Saying that if this service pack is out I might give it a go..Also bear in mind vista uses 1.25GB of ram just running it..The only positives ive had from it are the look of it and the fact it downloads all your drivers for you.Stick with home premium anyway if you go vista(which I know you will) I went vista when I had my new pc and I remember.. also grim will the problems I had with my microphone aswell lol

One last question there. I was just thinking about adding a monitor to the setup. the one i was looking at and thinking of getting is Samsung 20" LCD Syncmaster 206BW TCO03. Seems like a pretty decent monitor. What r peoples opinions of this monitor? Can u get cheaper anywhere else?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

had the 19" version before.. great monitor very stylish
