Thinking of buying a 99 CLK200 in the near future. Anyone here got any stories, good or bad? The one I'm eye-ing has every extra even the heated seats :D . I'm interested to know if the auto-box is any use...
    Thanks.

A good merc should be auto. but the downsie is that a good merc should also be six cylindered.

I'm not sure but i think the 230s are. This one looks pretty good.

The 230K is a 4 cylinder engine. Its got just shy of under 200 BHP the 230, which is a nice bit of power. ( 2.3L Supercharged ). Another one to look out for would be a CLK 240, thats got a 2.4/2.6 V6 engine with around 170BHP. (More then the CLK 200 kompressor). That has a lovely sound off it when being driven and a nice bit of power too. Reliability wise? IF its anything like the 95-02 E class, you would want to get it checked out by a mercedes/specialist mechanic first who knows a thing or two about these cars, they will give you their honest opinion on the cars condition that may not be visible by looking at the obvious.

The CLK200 was by no means fast, I think it had 136 or so bhp. The 2.0/2.3K engines were strong, but unrefined. Don't even consider a manual, they're awful. And finally, don't believe anyone who tells you that their 99 CLK200 has every extra - that would have more than doubled the new price of the car.;)
