Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anybody have any idea will a 360 work on this? I recently bought it for my pc but after playing EA Skate im going to buy a 360 for the game and maybe GTA when it comes out and HL2

I figure I could buy the VGA adpater for the 360 the use a VGA to DVI converter for a pc and it might work but im not sure, so I said I would ask on here and see if anyone knows whether or not it would work...?

    Any ideas?

It should work depending on the type of DVI connection on the monitor, but I'd say its fine.

Well I tried an MS VGA cable with a DVI/VGA adaptor which I plugged into the DVI connector on a Dell 2407 (as vga was being used by Notebook at the time), and got no picture I am not sure but I don't think these adaptors are bi directional...they convert from dvi to vga and are designed to be plugged into a vga connector on your screen, not the other way around. However there are bound to be adaptors or boxes out there which work. Just have not come across one.

The other thing to consider is that your Dell screen has zero scaling and has a mad res of something like 2500x1600. I am not sure if the 360 scalar will go that high..you could end up with games scaling to 1920x1080 and big borders.

You would probably need to go on AV forums to get a proper answer to these questions.

yea it seems I cant go the vga to dvi route.. but with some googling ive found and I can go hdmi - dvi I found an apdapter this morning(cant remember price the link to it is at home..) but I think it supports up to 1900 X 1200 so I could buy a xbox 360 elite and theres a chance it would work what you think?

Ill do some more googling later and see what I can find...

I set my 360 up on a Dell 2407WFp A04 over the weekend with the component cables and can get it to 1080i.

Looking into it you can get 1080p with a VGA cable on it, so your monitor may be the same.

    Not sure about DVI

Does the Dell panel not have a VGA in on it? Seems like the easiest solution to me?

Alternatively, DVI and HDMI are basically the same thing, you're only adapting, not converting when you go between these two, so it's a simple mechanical adapter. So if you got an elite you could just get a straight HDMI->DVI cable.

yea the dell only has one dvi port so thats why I was going for the elite, Ive read and flaccus says vga>dvi doesn't work..

going cost me a leg though .. I might just get a regular xbox for my tv(which is smaller) but if I stay on the dell the picture might be even smaller than the tv...

Does it not have component input like the 2407 etc. I had a 2405 n ran my 360 on it via component, worked a treat.....

I see it only has dvi inputs... I've a HDMI to DVI cable if ur interested..

Ps. U get a chance to post that monitor?? Remainder of the payment is on the way

    It definitely wont work ,

The dell 3007 ( excellent monitor by the way ) is a DVI-D input only ,
    http://www.hothardware.com/articles/Dell%5FUltraSharp%5F3007WFPHC%5F%5F92%5FColor%5FGamut%5F30%5FInch%5FLCD/

To get what this means you have to understand the different flavours of DVI connection , heres a link

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI

Now take a look at the pinout diagrams , the only type of DVI that works with a VGA to DVI adaptor is the DVI-I or DVI A type , in the diagrams these are the ones with the cross point connections on the left , these are the analog pins and VGA is analog.

The dell 3007 will only take a digital input , ( the pinout for DVI-D has no analog pins ) if you got the elite , with the HDMI output , and a DVI to HDMI cable , it would work , because DVI and HDMI are pin for pin compatible for video , your only catch there is that there would be no sound , because DVI does not carry sound.
