    The tapper/filter on my Gaggia Evolution no longer pierces the capsules when I attach it to the machine - so I usually pierce the capsules before making the coffee - will have to bring it back to get repaired/replaced...

    Question: I was told that this machine also does ground coffee, do I need a different filter/handle to use ground coffee or will the original one work?

    You shold have no problem using normal ground coffee with that Gaggia
    (Just make sure the coffee is fine espresso grind and not the coarser
    French press ground coffee most places stock).

    You should have received 2 filter baskets and a portafilter with the machine.

    If you use the larger double shot filter basket with properly ground coffee,
    well tamped, there is no reason why you cant get coffee as good as if not
    better than the pods.

    Didn't receive the filter baskets or portafilter with the machine. Will look into it further this weekend. Not sure I still have the receipt to bring back the filter jobby.

    I presume I can purchase these 'accessories' if needs be. I am one of those people who prefer the experts to blend the coffee & the quick results are why I like the capsules + I am partial to the prezioso flavour.

    Sounds like you purchased the capsule system version
    of the Evolution -
    EVOLUTION CAFFITALY.

    I found instructions on how to convert a standard Evolution
    to a capsule version on the Gaggia UK site, I'm guessing
    if you purchase a few additional parts (portafilter/baskets)
    you should be to convert bacm.

    Best bet would be to phone Gaggia UK,
    0044870-442-0300
    and they should either be able to supply you with the parts to
    repair your capsule system or convert to a standard machne.
