compsoc-plan for the next year

    im going to put down exactly my thoughts now on what i hope we will have before xmas on the cards for compsoc.

    a VLAN-
    not to get anyones hopes up but like netsoc before, we are going to try and have a VLAN. for those not in the loop what a VLAN would mean is that society members could have access to chat between society members and society members with the same interests around the country, also a place where they can, theoretically get files off for games at home, maybe music from artists within the college, and that kind of stuff.

    Talks-
    the ones i am going to setup if people are interested are as follows-

    Intro to computers and games- a quick information night to complete n00bs who may of played console games and briefly used computers.

    Linux-another OS, advantages and how-to's-cheat codes etc. pretty self explainitory

    Programs- what makes them work, simply home based d.i.y- for aspiring computer programmers doing other courses, to help them make their own

    anything else you would be interested to hear or think ppl would be interested in do tell me!

    Now onto the Sessions-
    Wii Party- just keeping it old school, dont know how i will pull this off, but i will!!

    Movie night-as i said before in a previous thread.

    Drinking session- tried to get one going at the end of last year didnt work out, but it can be done, €4 pints at o'loughlins

    computer games sleep over- again dont know how i'll do it, but we pull up to someones house, laptops, consoles etc and play the night away....this may not come to fruition.

    and finally a tourney- what you've all be screaming out for!

    just a final word to the games-
    CS:S
    BF2,1942, vietnam, and 2142, in rotation.
    Flight sim combat sim
    Colin McRae 3
    Fifa 2008
    these games have to be still tested so there will be a small amount of play in these

    sounds great so far, some lofty goals there. Will be interesting to see how much you produce ;)

    Nothing against you, but compsoc presidents (myself included) have often promised much and delivered on alot less.

    everything is in the planning stage, but everything will be delivered by xmas(sounds like ww1 and ww2 all over again!)HOPEFULLY.

    i know that most of the goals are lofty, all the reachable goals(talks,games) will be planned and dated by sept end. the games will be rolled out over the next 3 months, tops. all the sessions, some of the more reachable ones, will be also dated by sept. end aswell. i will investigate the others ones, like the vlan and the other unreachable goals like the sleepover etc., will be final researched between now and oct.
