Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Traffic unaffected by Car Free day
    Saturday, 22 September 2007 22:57

Events were staged throughout Ireland and the rest of Europe to mark European Car Free Day today.

The day was part of European Mobility Week, which aims to encourage people to adopt new approaches of getting to and from work, school and other daily activities.

However traffic levels in the capital were reported to be normal leading to criticism from cyclist and business groups.

AdvertisementThe Minister for the Environment, John Gormley, said today that he plans to expand the event next year.

The day was marked in Cork by the Rebel Pedal Parade.

Dublin's Parnell Square East, Merrion Square West and the road through Herbert Park in Donnybrook were closed to vehicles from early morning until teatime today.

In 2004, Car Free Day was said to have made no impact, with the Automobile Association saying it was one of the busiest days of September on Dublin's roads.
