A standard 8-24Mbits like they have now is not ambitious enough so they are convening a national summit gig to sort the fibre plan out very shortly.

I have already sent a few of them an email telling them to look at Paddy over here with his 75% 1mbit supply and him happy , to be sure to be sure, and to stop being such a negative pack of whinging poms about their 8mbits and stuff .

Paddy will have universal 1mbit by 2012, yes siree Bob. Glory !

The reply address , quite mysteriously , was minister@dcmnr.ie , hopefully Eamo can type as well as BS when teh register gets on to him :p

'Eamo' has already volunteered to address their conference to explain the virtues of the oul 1mbit ...more on that UK plan here.

You people always trying to do down Oirland, isn't it just grand the way it is?
Look at all the things the govmint has delivered in the telecoms field...
    like umm, err and eh
and you just make Oirland look backward with your constant whinging about having universal provisioning at < 1Mb.
You all have great provisions for broadband here, endless competition and a vigilant and attentive watchdog in our regulator,
who has ensured we have the cheapest broadband in the EU.

    Yes you ungrateful Ireland offliners...
