Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hey have laptop with vista basic on it and put office 2000 on it but it really slowed down my computer. From what i hear office 2000 is not compatible with Vista, is this right?

Anyway got office 2000 of my computer and was going to buy office 2007 but the new office 2007 uses new file extension such as .docx for Word . Wondering can the files be opened in previous version of word such as 2000 or 2003 or will they need to be converted everytime i wanna open it elsewhere.

I use word for college a lot and need to be able to just take the files and just bring them into college and work on them on the office 2003 in college without hassle.

If office 2007 is bit of hassle, is office 2003 compatible with Vista?

Your expert advice on this would be good

Office 2003 works perfectly on Vista. I have been using it the last 2 months.

I don't know much about Office 2007 but from what I recall you can set the default file to save as as .doc as opposed to .docx. Or at very least you have the option to save as the older version file.

Soundman is right. Files in Office 2007 can be saved to be compatible with Office 97-2003

    thats great guys.

Which one do you think is better? Can get both of them for basically same price so cost not an issue. Heard that 2007 is bit weirder to use bu that may just be cos its new.

    Any ideas?

We have office 2007, 2003, and openoffice. I use openoffice but that's just because I'm cheap. Functionality is very similar really, bit of a coin toss.

For Office XP or Office 2003 users, there is a compatability pack available to allow you to open, edit and save the 2007 file formats. It's available here:

Office 2007 takes a bit of getting used to but it's worth it. Some great features.
