Does anyone know if its possible to claim relief on their bin/bag charges?

A post on the accommodation board would seem to imply there might be a refuse allowance of up to €400 which is money I'd rather in my pocket than the tax man's to be honest.

Yes it is tax deductable just fill in this form and send it off. You get credit this year for 20% of what you paid last year and you can backdate it to 2003. So you could really print off 4 of these and send them off with what you have paid but if you send them all off together they may ask for receipts so you may want to send them off at weeekly intervals.

I never bothered to keep receipts before. I've used on average one greenstar bag per week, if I claim on that basis and don't have receipts could this get me in trouble with the revenue?

No not in trouble but if you are claiming back a load of money they sometimes ask for receipts or some proof like with medical expenses ect. so If I was going to back date it I would send them in one at a time that way its less likely they will ask you for a receipt. If they ask you just say you don't have any. Worst thhing that can happen is they dont give you a tax credit. you will be in no trouble at all.
