Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

About 10 army vehicles passed (in rapid succession) through Terenure on Tuesday.... thought it was strange, but maybe they were goin to Rathmines or something.

    Anybody able to explain this?

One question. When our soldiers are on peace keeping missions, how do they transport the APC's to the country their going to? As far as I'm aware we don't have any transports big enough to carry them and with sufficient range?!

Commerical transport. This will change in the future since at least one of the new vessels for the navy will have the ability to transport APC's

Is this related to the 3 big looking green choppers (they looked like something outta Black Hawk Down .. but they weren't black!) flying in formation around the Naas road / Baldonnell about 1030 this morning?

it was probably for the careers day in the RDS today, the army had two APCs there, with an artillery gun, anti tank launcher and other equipment.

I saw the bomb disposal unit flaking it through Kilmainham with Garda escort at some point last week. Same day that the site on infirmary road went up in flames.

They're going to pour across the border, taking the north without firing a shot, annexing the six counties and heralding a new era of peace.

    I don't get what you mean by a bomb-rock ?

They had a speed boat there, bomb disposal squad, heavy ordinance etc

So i'm pretty sure it was them going through the city.

A few years back when i was at that careers day they all sorts of equipment (Steyr AUG's, artillery shells and mortars) and one of the things they had was a plastic rock which would be packed full of explosives and set by a road side. The guys explaining all the equipment took a particular interest in the rock.

I don't know about this convoy, but there is talk of cake.

Todays Metro showed a picture of three of the air corps choppers flying over the Phoenix Park, with soldiers in them. Most likely exercises, to see how quickly they can get from A to B, in case of an emergency.

I was in Croatia a few weeks ago and I saw a convoy of army trucks, maybe not 50, driving through a city and I joked that it was the Irish army starting to take over the world, turned out it was them

I was wrong on the taking over the world bit though, they were returning from Kosovo

Yup, there was dangerous chemicals or something on the site that looked liable to explode. Luckily nothing went up afaik.
