Before I get anyone's hopes up there's not a word on the NTL site about it.
But one of the lads here in work had his line jump from 3Mb to 4Mb last night following some NTL work in the Ardkeen area near his house.

Just wondering if anyone else had experienced similar?

sounds like he's been downloading more than his monthly allowance and they've automatically upgraded him to the higher speed (which has more alloance)

he'd wanna make sure they dont start billing him for the higer speed

Its teh opposite for me, I have been getting dire pings to america for the last week or so ( I would normally get around 130 , now i am getting 200. )

No change myself I have to add, on the Dunmore Road and on the 3Mb package.

    On the other hand........... :)

If the test was a bit longer the speeds would have been higher as the counts were still rising when it completed.

Where the hell did you get that from ????

Is anyone else getting distorted picture on BBC2 and other strange happenings on other channels?

BBC2 is appalling and all the other channels are fairly bet too.
I did the speed test in work.

    Time:15/10/2007 19:53
    Down:301 kbps (37 KB/s)
    UP:511 kbps (63 KB/s)
    QoS:11 %
    RTT:174 ms
    Ping:823 ms

Mind you.... this is on NTL'S 6mb joke of a connection. A whooping 37 KB down during peak hours.
I feel like burning their buildings down after 9 months of ****e with them.

Roen - you're test result shows that you are getting in excess of 11mb down and 25mb up.

    How?

Yes, but its not NTL is it ? Looks like its connected to HEAnet ?

Right you are, didn't notice that. Must be a business rather than residential service, and in which case 11mb downstream is nothing special. 25mb upstream is though, imo.

HEANet is the ISP for all the colleges and universities in Ireland as well as a mirror for all open source projects on Sourceforge.net. They have some serious bandwidth available :)

Yep, it was a slow download day that day.
We're capped at 240Mb I think even though we're on a 1Gb line. Long story.

Isn't it just a 1 Gb network? Not actual speed of the net.

No, we're on a 1Gb spur from a 10Gb line from HEAnet, capped to 240Mb. The internal network is all 1Gb.
