Car Question

I am sure that these type of threads are posted often, so I apologise in advance!

*I am looking for a sporty looking car (not Boy-racery).
*1.6 or less (I am 17 now, prob be 18 when purchasing so for insurance reasons)
*I have up to €8k to spend, but I would rather spend €4k on something that is good value that €8k on something that isn't, if you understand what I mean. And vice-versa.
*Lower mileage a bonus, but as long as it has a good SH, should I worry about higher mileage cars?

I have been looking at an Audi a3, BMW 3 Series Coupe, Toyota Corrolla, Rover 25/MG ZR (Madness?)

Would these be good? Or overpriced?

Also would I save much from sourcing form UK?

Nothing specific as of yet as like I say it will probably be next spring when I will be buying, but just so I have an idea if I am on the right track or not.

You could probably get a 98/99 1.6 litre Hyundai Coupe on your budget but check out insurance costs first. Grand car once you get over the fisher price interior and probably more stylish than any of the ones you mentioned.

Civic actually is the best in this class IMO. I had 2 when i was your age and a little older. Very easy to drive and forgiving. Great road feedback and reliability is top class. looks are great obviously especially compared to the very popular and drab corollas.

Couldn't the Civic be described as the ultimate "boy-racery" small hatch, thus ruling it out.

Corolla TBH. Get a clean VVTI 1.4 from 2000-2001 and your all good.

Go for a hatchback aswell they feel better to drive than a saloon.

Yep your right, I wouldn't really want a Civic to be honest!

I am really fond of the MG.

However, would it be madness to buy one, considering the firm is no more?

Would their reliability be good? I mean if I could get a lowish mileage one would I have much to worry about?

It is a nice sporty hatchback, and the price of them is very cheap compared to equiv. Golf's etc.

However, would it cause more problems then its worth?

Thanks for the idea on the Hyundai, I will research that option more!

Same phone number on both pages, so one would assume same dealer trading as 2 different names.......would throw up a few flags to me alright.

Must be considered a 'performance' car.

Any one have any opinions on the MG?

Toyota Paseo 1.5 02 for €6500. unusual to see one in that year, they are a bit old school though, being based on the Starlet underneath.
