It happened a month ago aswell
Fri 10 Aug Monaghan United Home 1-1
Sun 12 Aug Finn Harps Home 0-1

Harps got a last minute free kick that day and won, I was nearly crying.

Hoping for more than one point this weekend.

There's still a possibility of us finishing 3rd, which would be delightful, but I'd be more than happy with 4th.

    Fúcking Finn Fúcking Harps. Bastards.

ANOTHER last minute winner from them, against Shels. That's the third time this season.

    I can't believe it.

We were one up, and they won 2-1.

On the plus side, I ended up being a temporary Sports Reporter for local Donegal Radio station, Ocean FM. Four times I was on their station giving reports from the ground.

Famous in Donegal I am :D

Like the Vikings I expect Cork to plunder in Waterford tonight.

Big crowd from Cork heading down.

After the result last night the Cup looks even more winnable.

Cork should win easily Mulcahy is cup tied, shame that.

    shoulda watched the rugger ;)

i leave my rant about what jammy filthy dirty thugs Harps are for another day but Shels go what they deserved.... nothing. Aimless, hoofy football with no direction or discipline will not get you out of the 1st division next season but that's not to say Harps were anything like Brazil either but they have the luck with them. Simply not good enough and it kills me to see us hemorrhaging 7/8/9k of OK's cash per week paying for talentless muck like Mark Rooney and Glen Lacey in a piss poor league. I'd rather see Shels spend 2k per week on an average mid-table side than spending 9k on an average mid-table side. 3 points against Kildare on Sunday is only a must.

if farrelly is playing the sexy football only occurs in a radius of 20 metres of the chipper van, its the free chips that being an EL player gets you see.

Well at least we would have the intentions of going to play good football. Tonight was not the night any team could play with conditions the way they were.

However, the interview before the match summed up Waterford. They were going to stop City from playing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,147 ✭✭✭Ronan|Raven

The cheek of Waterford! How dare they.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

Well they are the home team.

Don't remember Jimmy McGeogh having the same attitude.

missed the city game (reports suggest i was lucky) as i was down in queenstown for ramblers v youths.

hard earned point for rams, a man and a goal down for 50 minutes, micky mulconroy sent off for pulling off the best save in the game..

wexford were incredibly negative for the second half, showed no ambition to get out of their box, literally parked the bus. for the second half you'd wonder who had the ten men, cobh bombarded the wexford goal, but just couldn't break down the resolute youths defence.

got a penalty in the last minute as the youths defender manhandled ciarain o'reilly in the box, he stepped up himself, poor penalty was saved, fell back to him though, he seemed to take about 25 touches before putting it into the net.. a fitting end to what i thought was a very enjoyable game of football..

good point in the circumstances, but you cant help but feel they've slipped up again..

two points clear of harps, who they play in ballybofey on friday. they come away from there with a draw they'll be laughin

Half time in Tolka Park. Shels 0-0 Kildare County.

Kdjac, Haverty is playing. Started in the middle of midfield, game passed him by for a half hour, and he was moved to right full.

Poxy game though, about twelve people and my dog here. Damn Premierleague.

Pretty even until Haverty and Alan Murphy changed positions, then we started to get a grip in the middle.

Nil all is a fair reflection of the first half.

    1-0 Shels

    Anto Flood 51

Finished 2-1 to Shels. Leech with the second.

    Kildare scored in injury time.

Think it'll be close all right, and I'll be happy to sneak a draw and take it to Dalymount. Hunt is out too, apparently. :(

What is it with Bohs fans and Hunt and to a lessor extent Crowe.

    Move on.

They've shown no consistency this season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

lol applehunter dunno about Bohs fans but im delighted Hunt is out altho hope his kid is ok.

Havent scored vs Bohs this season, think the only team we havent. We not good enough to defend anything so if they bring the bus i cant see us beating them.

one nil bohs at half time through mansaram.

dessie byrne sent off for second yellow, didnt see the first, but the second was a definate yellow.. he only has himslef to blame..

should make for an interesting second half, i reckon it'll end a draw from here

    :D

    Pat's out.

I reckon we'll be champions again before Pat's manage a cup win.

How does Stephen Paisley get in your Pats team?

    Useless.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭SectionF

Sweet victory, against Pat's, who gave us a great game, but most of all the ref. At this stage, it feels like we're playing that Cork menace every other week, and not whatever opposition happens to be in front of us.
Hats off to K. Fahey, who knows how to take a free kick. But Dessie Byrne's gotten sent off for a shoulder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

It was a stupid wreckless challenge.

Guess thats part of the Dessie Byrne package.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

he wasnt even looking at the ball.. it was a definite yellow card, it's his own fault it was his second

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

And the first yellow was for a reckless, late tackle where he got nowhere near the ball. A saint is Dessie.

Shame it wasnt his shoulder he was sent off for using

We were terrible at the back vs 10 men, bohs were lucky Byrne got sent off as their tackles were horrendous the 1st to take ndo out of the game then their keeper takes out keane. Both straight reds but ref bottled it sent off the easy target.

No complaints really they had 10 and we had 11 and we scored a free kick even i would save.

Behan got a hat-trick for Cork City as they beat Waterford 4-0.

Cork for the cup I reckon.

Anyone know when the draw for the semi finals is on ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

If i ever have a son, I'm calling him Denis Behan

    SUPERSTAR

Great performance all round.. well done son

team played fairly well too, still look nervous at the back, but with brian o'callaghan there its no wonder

flynny looked razor sharp when he came on, his first touch he smacked a header off the bar from a corner, and then set up two goals

that game's put a smile on my face for the rest of the week anyway!

A fella called O'Callaghan getting stick from a City fan? Times have indeed changed.

Anyone know when the draw for the semi final is? And the cup final date? I have heard December 2nd? If true, thats crazy, 23 days after the league season ends.

BTW, I am not counting my chickens as I reckon we will get Bohs away in the semi.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

I also herad the final has been moved to December alright.

Nice one FAI, yet another complete fúck up.

Apparently the RDS isn't available until then.

    Er...Tolka, Dalyer, Turner's X, Richer, Brandywell?

    Idiots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

ive heard its been put back a week to december 2nd or 3rd, cause.. get this..

the world cup draw is on the week before in south africa, and you know what that means...

    suits on a junket...

(you could also say "snakes on a plane" and it wouldnt lose its meaning either :) )
