Anyway being well used to blue screens I just turned off the computer and went to turn it back on to watch the video then bed.... but the pc boots up fine fans motherboard light dvd drive works I can hear the hard drive only I get no picture at all? Also my keyboard lights dont come on which they usually do!

Now I checked the graphics card fans and there spinning so I dont think its a problem with them, I took out the cmos battery and replaced it to no avail.. im getting annoyed now.. its 5.45am so im going to bed I said id post this before hand see if anyone has any ideas ive a feeling one of the cards is gone ill switch them around tomorrow see how that goes!

So anything at all you can give me would be great thanks :)

Try re-seating RAM modules or better try boot from one, if you get no picture ie no bios logo then it is definately no driver issiue ;)

do you get any bois beeps ? sounds like dead gfx.

try putting 1 dimm of ram in and 1 gfx then try.

    if that does not work.

take it out the pc and rebuild it outside.

em ok I think the only thing I can think of now is to try all the parts on a different mobo! Or maybe the cmos battery is gone?

battery does not matter it should boot with out it.try ur gfx first on another mobo and then the ram.

make shure you try it on ur pc first with the bare essentials (cpu,1 stick ram, gfx)

The thing is ive no other spare mobo unless I buy one.. and I dont want to buy one really incase it doenst work and I will will have to go about returning it..

my mate is going bring up a spare monitor and see if thats it and I might ask him again(presuade with a bit of cash this time) to let me use his mobo hes got a similar system to me except for hes got only one 8800 and 2 gigs of ram hes using a EVGA 680i board..

Im really annoyed now as I cant figure it out I wouldnt be annoyed if I knew.. even if it was going to cost alot of money to fix.. thankfully I bought a xbox 360 lol so that will keep me occupied for awhile gaming wise lol...

Thanks for all the help so far.. Any other ideas would be great...

have you done what i said ? if not do them :D(bar use another mobo :) cuz you dont have 1)

hmm try a 12 hour cmos clean.invert ur cmos jumper(look in manual) and take out the battery then press the power button to drain the capps.

just try building it out side the pc.

Yea I tried that with one graphics card and tried booting once with each stick of ram then the same thing with the other graphics card and I get nothing, my friend is going let me use his pc to try and boot with my parts in it.. so if that works its the mobo!

If the CPU was borked the pc wouldn't even power on?

Ill try that cmos thing in the morning when I get home from work I hope thats it or either the mobo I dont want to spend money on graphics cards.. :(

    Thanks for that awhir!

After googling on what awhir said ive found something I said I would share to get opinions on it..

Ive read a few times that I can move the jumper (invert it awhir?) to the next 2 pins on the board and leave it there for 10 mins and it should work?

ya thats that what ment there should be 3 pins and you just swap it over the pin in the middle and the one that was not covered first.

    No luck..

I switched the jumpers and powered it on for awhile then off and that didnt work! So I turned it off again and took out the battery and left the jumpers to clear and left it there for about 7 hours came back switched the jumpers and put back the battery nothing..

im annoyed now! The only thing left to do is try the parts in a different computer which I will get to do tuesday...

Ive read if the pc powers on but doesn't boot or beep the mobo is dead? I dont think its the monitor or graphics because the keyboard doesnt light up when it starts which otherwise it usually does so im thinking the mobo is pooped?

    Any ideas? Awhir? lol

lol dident mean turn it on straight away ment press the power button when the psu was off you would could drain the caps.

    got no more idea's :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

Do you mean power down, move the jumper, and try turn on the pc with the psu switch turned of but plugged in?

Maybe the battery just gave up and I should get a new one? Worth a try?

that sorted it lol, everythings fine again it seemed to be one of the(cant think of the name.. yokes that hole down the motherboard) was not attached to the case so it must have been shorting the motherboard or something.

That was your very 1st suggestion awhir lol try it out of the case I was just to lazy cause of work :P
