    Why watch it consistently then?

I think the reason women are crap (in Ireland anyway) is that they all come through the same RTE broadcasting format (yes I know Mairead came from Today FM but anyway).

Women are crap at comedy because they don't need to be funny to get sex.
The Women that they use on the Panel aren't comediennes, they are just there for eye candy.

Am I just a dry cnut or is this show just not funny?
    You should try lube

I've watched it consistently and I just can't laugh at it. I want to, but it's just too weak.
Do you consistently bang your head against a wall and then complain that you have a headache?

Aoibhinn was just annoying last night. The only contribution she made was that hilarious mistake with Dobbo. Other than that her presence was futile. Great to see Maxwell back. I saw him in Vicar St last week and he was hilarious. Ed Byrne should just give up. He was awful and not to mention his teeth are vile and look like sweetcorn.

She should go back to telling stories about when she was a CERN. Now they were funny......in a not funny at all kind of way.

I agree, Ed Byrne is absolutely brutal. His teeth are disgusting and his jokes are not funny. The only time he is funny is if he says something without thinking. When he tries too hard, he's not funny at all.

    But brush your teeth!!!

I love the panel but last nights show - the first half was funny the second half was dry

Dermot Whelan was brill on it a couple of weeks ago -anyone agree?

I turned it off last night; didn't warm to it at all.

Podge & Rodge was worse however.

I watched it but I kept thinking maybe I should just go to bed! I don't know why, just wasn't that into it last night.

Andrew Maxwell had his moments. Especially talking about his "wee erection" which left the rest of the panel with faces of disgust. Twas very funny.

Ya but did you notice that he kind of went quiet for a lot of it. Either he had nothing to say of they edited it all out!!

Here's a question for somebody. Whats the music played during the opening credits of the show. I don't know if its played at the end also as I've never seen the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

    "Waterfall" by The Stone Roses

Yes I did. I also noticed Ed Byrne not looking happy during his rants. A story about being rained on by your own piss in a car is better than anything ed byrne has to say TBH.

Going to see the recording in the O'Reilly Theatre this Sunday, yay!! (but colin murphy hosting, boo - had hoped dara would be fitting it in between his vicar st gigs).
Have they shown any gigs from Bray yet? A friend applied for tickets and I'm not sure if he's out of luck or they just haven't gone there yet.

What Pamela Flood is doing on it is what boggles my mind. They might as well stick a "token female" sign on her forehead. She contributes shag all apart from sitting there looking blonde.

That may be enough for some (me)

Her contributions are far superior than Aoibheann Ni Shuilleabhans. She was plain ****e.

Jaysis they're struggling tonight. Possibly one of the worst episodes of the Panel I've seen.

No she is worse, Aoibheann at least is pleasant to look at. OK I switched back some funny bits but everytime that scouser fool speaks I put my fingers in my ears and I can hear baby jesus in the attic crying. Neil Delamare is good tonite.

She's much worse than Aoibheann IMO. She has nothing interesting or funny to contribute (not her fault as she's not a comedian). Instantly forgettable.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 829 ✭✭✭standbyme

Yeah Neil Delamere's getting better even though with the quality of the panellists or lack of it at times.

But the only thing that pissed me off was i was watching it on sky & the picture freezes for mins on & off, as when you hear a quality line you want to rewind it again :D

& if you think you havent heard enough of him, i heard he's on the Breakfast show tomoro mornin on Today FM, as i heard the podcast a while ago when he was last on-it was hilarious.

I hate the English guy. Why do they bring him over specifically for The Panel? He's not funny at all. I slightly understand the token female, but I'd even prefer to watch Ed Byrne than that guy...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 864 ✭✭✭Aedh Baclamh

Could they not make Ed Byrne the token female?

It's not actually a good show. Stopped watching it ages ago. That Murphy guy is the same every week...seems like he's saying the exact same joke every time. Ed Byrne is painful to watch. That Dublin guy has grown on me actually, used to hate him.

I think its something to do with his 'vicious wife' on her monthly... something he was sayin why he's over here once a month, whether you believe him or not :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭cailinoBAC

Yeah, I went to the recording on Sun and was disappointed when they announced the line-up, I laughed the whole way through (two and a half hours!), but didn't really feel there was much of quality and wondered if it would be any different once they edited it down to an hour. Andrew could have injected a bit of a life into it!

The two of them are not funny....fullstop!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,253 ✭✭✭Sandwich

Yes. Last night worst line up in the history of the show. Token female wasting a seat as usual(notice the way they cut to her if the group is laughing - as if thats why shes there), but to have two of the guy seat wasting aswell is just too much. Murphy is best at feeding off some good banter from his colleagues - when the rest of them are duff I wouldnt be too hard on him. Its in danger of fading away if they cant keep up worthwhile panelists.

that the gaping hole in the show is the absense of Andrew Maxwell

Agree. It struggles enough without O'Briain, and Maxwell had become the most inventive on the show. Plus, any guy who can move from an impression of Charlie Haughy to one of Bosco with a flick of his hair cant be bad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 829 ✭✭✭standbyme

Maxwell was certainly inventive the night he was on Tubridy, whoa, the things he was comin out with?

Daire was on Ray D'arcy this morn, will he do Monday's show, as he said he had a few shows left!

I used to think the show was incomplete without O'Briain but after Monday nights show it has become quite evident that the gaping hole in the show is the absense of Andrew Maxwell, who at the moment is Irelands funniest comic.
Yeah it's not the same without Maxwell.
