You mean you wouldn't hit that? :D

You said she should talk less. I counted her talking about 4 times last night. :)

The girlies are redundant on that show at this stage. I think they should quit the "token female" bit and get in another decent comedian. I know I said this a couple of weeks ago but Ed Byrne really needs to brush his teeth. They're disgustingly yellow. Actually they should just take him off the show, he's crap.

Well, as Nightwish says, she's a token female. she just needs to sit there and look pretty. She has a tendency to say very stupid things :D

    Who? Ed Byrne?

it is becoming more and more apparent that the show is scripted ...ie rehearsed in some way!

Yeah, she's hot, and I won't have a word said against her :D

Note to RTE. I will watch this show if Mairead Farrell is on it, but what the hell is the deal with that English guy? It's like he doesn't even know what country he's in or at least has nothing topical to add. "Everytime I'm in Eire I switch on the TV and I see your Prime Ministah Bertie Arhern. Which reminds me of a story about Gordon Brown and the Layber Partee...."

    +1

BTW: Mock The Week with Daire O Briain is funnily enough starting a repeat on Dave 20m b4 the prog. As i had it rec. on sky+, but the repeat is later on DAve as well if Mairead, hmmmm.......! is on :)

Decided to pass on it last night. Haven't been impressed at all this season [exception being the ep when Dara was back]

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,013 ✭✭✭✭eirebhoy

Mairead Farrell was excellent last night I thought. Best panel in a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

The Panel is slowly sliding down the bowl like a morning after s#!t€ and I wouldn't be surprised if the present season was the last season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 797 ✭✭✭meathman 007

terrible program these days imo - unless they get dara back permanantely, i can see it dying a slow death

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Unless Dara comes back soon, this will be the last season for the show.

In fairness I don't think that would make a difference. The problem seems to me to be that some of the panelists live in England (including O'Briain) and so only really find out what's going on in Ireland by reading the paper when they get here so some stuff they comment on either isn't funny or a bit out of date.

That and the crap guests as well.

Its not the same without Daire, its run its course tbh.

Mairead Farrell is not interesting at all, I find her quite annoying.

I've said it before; Ed Byrne is great, he is genuinely funny at stand up or on the spot like on the Panel or Mock the week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

it was gnerall a good show last night, mairead farrell was in laugh at, not laugh with, mode last night, comedians we laugh with, get a ****ing comedian on the show, not a token female

    bayliss was king last night.

how about I get thermocoupler and...

Hmmm the general consensus here seems to be that the show has run its course.I agree it has declined in the past few months but not enough to warrant being cancelled. It is still one of the best homegrown shows, has a considerable viewer base and as long as Maxwell,Delamere and Murphy stay it should still be able to hold its own.I would much prefer the panel to any of those formulaic english "quiz" shows such as Mock the Week. And I'm sure there have to be a few others here that like the more natural style of The Panel.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 12,072 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

The scary thing is, within half an hour of The Panel ending, BBC Northern Ireland had a repeat of their Blame Game with...Colm Murphy and Niall Delamere. It was like deja vu.

Actually, I wonder what Tim McGarry would be like on The Panel...

Yeh I watched that too. The rehearsed question from the audience thing is very strange. Why??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 400 ✭✭beglee

On the show just now, was that guy Joe Simpson, the climber guy, drunk or sumthin?? He seemed to be slurring his words somewhat, and some of the things he said were a bit..em..odd

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,921 ✭✭✭✭Pigman II

Nah, it's just that he's vehy vehy posh.

    Mairead looking rather fetching tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,563 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Only caught the last frew minutes tonight. Who was the mountaineering guy? Seemed quite interesting.

    Mairead = uber MILF.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

    Utter tripe tonight.

Kangaroo farts ffs. If that what they have to resort too for cheap laughs then it's all a load of cack.
Prior to the frist guest was painful viewing, even the editing was done badly. Cheap laughs all around.

I'll give Mairead two tho. Not shy anyway.

Yeah, I reckon he was pished too. I also reckon when he said that thing about people drowning in 45 foot waves should be in the Darwin awards, there was an uncomfortable shift in the Panel, in light of the two fishermen last week. Mind you, I could be just inventing that in my head.

To be fair he was talking about the total "egits" that decided to surf off the west coast (namely Sligo ref pics from the various newspapers) regardless of numerous warnings from the coast guard and the met.

I finally got my new tv today after 4 weeks of waiting and I didn't bother to watch the panel because of what you've all been saying here! Might give it another chance though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 687 ✭✭✭scop

Its OK. I watch it because there ain't much Irish TV to give support to, but my god do they make it hard.

Not given to watching it much but caught a repeat last night. The minute Mairead Farrell opened her mouth I felt an urge to do something else. However bad that Rose was, I thought she was unfunny and just loud. It made me wonder who the hell she was and more importantly who let her on, that and the fact that not one of the rest of the crew were anyway funny either. When late night TV is that bad, definitely time to be in bed.

What was the name of the West African motivational speaker who appeared in this week's episode?

Benni something with a C for a last name? Or something....?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

that foody filmy guy = worst.guest.ever!

does that guy not do many tv/radio appearances, he seemed not to want to elaborate on the questions nor did have a detailed knowledge of the subject.

awful, i dunno if he just froze or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,641 ✭✭✭✭Elmo

This show has become even more annoying now that I know it is all scripted and none of the panelist live in Ireland anymore.

How can you be on a Topical Comedy show and not live in the country it is intended for, it becomes very pointless.

Was Corrigan p!$$ed or something, one minute he finds things offensive the next he's laughing his head off.

I agree, I wasn't a fan until I saw her last night. Missed Richard Corrigan, must watch it online to see what he was like because, in fairness, the man is a bit strange.

The show would be very poor without Maxwell imo. Ed isn't funny. Dermot isn't funny. Colin relies a lot on the rest of the panel being funny.
