Better using vodafone software on Three/3 3g network?

I've changed the software on the 3 datamodem that I got to the vodafone mobile software. This is the one that they give you when you go to the Huawei driver page for the E220. I have both here, and I'm finding that the vodafone software configured for the 3 network is working better than the 3 software. Has anyone else had…

I've tried the 7.2 firmware (ie the software in the modem). It didn't seem to make much of a difference either way. I personally didn't like using the "mobile connect" software (ie the software on the computer), so I changed that back to the 3 software.
