Finbarr is the gay liaison officier of the garda:

    Hello girls and guys,
it makes me really sad to be posting on a subject such as murder, but that is unfortunately what i am having to do.
Firstly, my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Finbarr Dennehy who must be devestated by the breaking news. Finbarr was by all accounts a gentleman, was popular with his work colleagues, his neighbours and friends and like the rest of us, an ordinary man getting on with his life. His murder is a needless tragedy.
At the invitation of the murder investigation team I was invited out to Clontarf Garda Station to attend the investigation conference. The purpose of this was two fold; 1 to advise the team in whatever way I could on any sensitivities that the the detectives may encounter during the investigation and 2 to assist the investigation in any way that I could.
In that regard, Finbarr, or Barry as he was known to some of you, was last seen on Saturday evening/night into Sunday morning. He was socialising in the city centre in some of the usual locations. I have been asked to enquire if anyone met, saw, spoke to Finbarr on sat/Sun and if so would they make contact with either me on this site, at gayliaison@iol.ie and leave a number and I will contact you in absolute confidence. There is an incident room in Clontarf at 01-6664800 and they will also take all calls.
I also want to assure everyone that there is a very determined and dedicated team of gardai who are intent on pursuing every avenue to find the culprit of this crime. I am confident, that like all other cases that I have appealed to you for assistance, that this case can be solved through Garda/gay co-operation.
It is terrible crime and together we can take this person off the streets,

I will keep you informed of developements,

    Inspector Finbarr Murphy (Gayliaison)
