New kitten and dog???

I got a new kitten during the week and he's terrified of my dog. My dog just wants to go and smell him/her and get to know him. But the kitten does nothing but hiss at the dog. The dog has learned to stay away from him now. But how would i get the kitten used to the dog?

It'll happen in time - it's good to hear that the dog is respecting the cat's boundaries (thanks to the hissing) - would be worse if the dog started barking instead. So long as you don't leave them on their own, it's possible for them to become best of friends
