Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of anywhere that could attempt to repair a family christening gown, and do some small alterations on it?

It's in excellent condition and would only need some small repairs, but it's very delicate and has huge sentimental value to me. It's over 100 years old.

Sorry i don't know of anyone that does it, is it lace, How bad is the damage. My son wore a 75year old gown for his christening last month. It was lace and had a small bit of fraying on the shoulders ect, but it wasnt noticeable and he looked lovely. I f it's not that badly damaged he could still wear it, it is 100 years old so there is bound to be some damage

The damage is not that bad, I wanted to see if it was possible to alter it at all to make it bigger, even get a piece put into it. My son was born 12lbs and will more than likely have outgrown 3-6mths babygows by the time he's christened. Its the arms that worry me, i dont think they're wide enough :(
