Hi, I was on Clare Island a while back. Lovely place, must be such a peaceful place to live. I was surprised to see so many cars there though. How do residents get them onto the island? Is there a car ferry?

Also was wondering what's with all the wrecked cars piled up at Roonagh Quay?

Ya they get them on by boat lad, a lot of English plates if you notice ;)

For the scrap, lorry will take them away, eventually!!

every family have about 7 cars incase the first one breaks :P also they start driving when your 13 or 14 so you have more people driving....
offen the time rush hour is at 3-6am when the pub closes :P

they use the ferrys to take small cars to the island youd see it in the winter at the back... they also have a boat for bring materials out witch can take bigger cars, jeeps, tractors and diggers... but ive seen them get stuck on the beach :P

Rarely, but if ur on about just a people only ferry, it's about two/three times a day in a boat somewhat like this: http://thehelm.info/images/boat.jpg
