slow torrenting

I am running eircom 1 mb broadband and seldom get above 15 kb/s in uTorrent. In downloading from sites such as rapidshare [files in or around 80mb], the maximum speed was 100kb/s. Now, could anyone perhaps explain why it is this slow, should i just get a faster connection? Or even switch to a different broadband provider?…

It just to do with the torrent, thats the way they work. Some go v.fast, some the opposite. Is to do with amount of seeds/leechers

Have you forwarded the ports necessary?

What bittorrent client art thou using?

Use uTorrent, Forward Ports = Sexy Speeds.
