i'm thinking of buying a transporter fairly soon and was wondering what experiences people have had with them.

i also want to get 2 seats put in the back with seatbelts and was wondering how much this will cost and where i can get it done.

    cheers P

KVC conversions will do that for you. They're in Kilbeggan, I think it costs around €6k, then you have to pay the VRT. I think VW can also do crewcab versions, don't know what that'd cost.

thanks for the replies guys, i'm not looking for the full conversion to be done, i just need a double seat in the back that i can strap a baby seat into on the odd occasion which is why i want it done by professionals for safety reasons.

i want to keep the full length in the back of the van beside the double seat for surfboards and kitesurfing gear.

i've heard some bad reviews on the vito( sexy lookin van tho ). its hard to get independant reviews online on commercial vehicles.

    thanks

Ring round a few couriers. They love talking about what vans are good and what vans are crap.

not possible from an insurance or VRT point of view I'm afraid.

camper? Kombi? you can have that option if going for the classic type:D a lot less rules apply:)

Are you looking for a new VW transporter? don't think you will have the option you want unless you get a caravelle??

Yup, I looked into the whole removable seat thing too, rang up a few places and you can only add seats if you do a FULL conversion which will require a divider between the crew and the cargo and yup, it'll cost a few K.

What's wrong with putting the baby seat in the front?

cormie, i have a second baby on the way and a 14 month old already and a 12 year old moping around aswell but he may be too embarrassed to be seen in a van:D

I'd say you're probably better off with a "Caravelle" (possibly a 1.9 for tax reasons ?) and getting the rear seats shortened profesionally to accomodate your gear.

That way at least there won't be any insurance / tax implications.

    Here's one:

    Or maybe a pickup?
