Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

still worth 70 euros tbh, well i'd still be happy if i paid 70 euros for the pc version.

    70e for 5 games is a steal.

But I'm still not paying it.

    37e for 5 is a bigger steal.

Phoned HMV and the guy said it hadnt arrived.. silly billy.

Anyways, presuming the Asian version works on Pal machines, im gonna get it too off play-asia.. no rush here, only on level 4 of Halo 3 :o

Got it in Gamestop today, had some games to trade to didn't mind the €70.

OMFG, how do you select a weapon north or south of your weapon selection HUD?

I can only got south to west, REFUSES to let me select weapons I have, 9that have ammo) that are stored in those locations. (cross bar bottom for example, crossbow top)

Only way I can use these (for example) is if I run out of ammo for all my other weapons, then when I press RB I can switch to them from the grav gun?!

Ok, I have calmed down.... Reason it was not working was caused by a huge glitch. I changed button config so B is interact, and X is reload, and it ****ed up the D pad functionality. How stupid is that?
Anyway, back to shooting faces in.

I guess its good then, for some reason Im reluctant to get it. Im reluctant to get it because I think it mightent work on a console, does it work? I have the 360.

Im just used to playing half life 2 on PC, and just think that the game mightent seem so special on a console.

Well you can't beat a keyboard and mouse obviously, but I don't think using a gamepad/360 should deter you unless you have a decently specced PC. If you played Halo2 or 3 you should be ok. I'm off to buy it now.

This game is awesome, forgot how much I loved HL2. Controller works great for the gravity gun. One thing I forgot and hated about half life 2 tho:

Ravenholm scares the absolute bejaysus out of me..

Worst level of the game imo... I always run out of ammo there:(

I really really want this game, but I can't decide whether to get it for the 360 or wait for the PS3 release! I just bit the bullet last week and bought a reduced-price PS3, and I really want to get some games for it so I can in some way justify my purchase, but maaaaaaaan, I don't think I can wait for the PS3 release!

running out of ammo there, is intentional they want you to use gas/petrol cannisters along with the saw blades, to show off the physics and niceities :p

Only had a chance to play Portal for a while and it is absolutely mind-bendingly wonderful. Can't wait to get into the others too.

I was going to get this this weekend but bloody hell is it expensive. 69.99 for a bunch of short games and a game i've already got? If anyone knows somewhere where its in the 50-60 euro range can they please tell me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,583 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

the whole single player element is upwards of 35 hours of gameplay (hl2 plus two episodes plus portal)

not to mention you're getting possibly the best online fps to ever grace a console as well.

love the way people will bitch and moan about the price where as they've no problems paying money to big bill to use xbox live but yet you still have to host online games yourself.

Half-Life 2 isn't short! Not that I remember anyway. Episode 1 and 2 are fairly short, but then you have portal and Team Fortress 2 thrown in there as well. Seems like a grand price in terms of what shops usually sell games at. But as always you will probably get it cheaper somewhere on the net.

I assume Jack is saying that the game he already has is HL2, and that Ep1, Ep2 and Portal are the short games (and they are).

But.... that's why it's the best.... No?

You're supposed to run out of ammo, use the gravity gun, thats why there are so many circle blades, which i'm a massive fan of :D

Just about to his Nova Prospekt. This game should take me nicely into Pro Evo 8, which will take me nicely into 2010. (GTA Iv)

Anyone else getting freezes (to the point where you have to shut down and restart the xbox)? It has happened me a few times yesterday and today - usually, though not always, when the next part is loading. The freezes have occurred in HL2 and Portal only (but haven't played the other games yet).

Aside from that - just replaying HL2 is worth the price. Portal is awesome. I'm holding off on ep 1 and 2, haven't given TF2 a go yet. What a fupping bargain this release was - just for plain old gaming fun.

Except for the freezes of course. Am I alone with this? Or, is my weighted companion cube about to get baked?

From the forums I've read people either constantly get crashes or have a perfect experience. Haven't seen any fixes yet.

Yes thats exactly what I'm saying. I mean theres no bigger fan of half life than me but i just don't have enough money to buy this. Adding to this the fact that its about 40 quid on steam its a joke.

Edit: I rang up HMV and asked the price, 80 bloody quid! no jokes, what do they think they are playing at?

Having just reached the wonderful, transcendant Portal ending song, I can say it was worth the money on it's own.

Anyone who has the game, make it your priority to finish Portal. Best two hours gaming of my life.

Absolutely loved Ravenholm, one of the most memorable levels from a game.

We gots to get a boards game going for this

I couldn't enjoy this game as the lag was terrible and everyone was doing a lone wolf on it. No team play at all

Using the classes here is key but everyone just seemed to pick a spy and go around stabbing people
