    Howdy folks,

Lots going on round DTS towers, with a free DJ set from Aim in Solas next Thursday, the following Saturday marking two years of 52Funk @ Kennedy's and a slot for us at this year's Asian themed DEAF festival. We've also got some mixes for you from some of our upcoming guests. Read on.......

DOWNTOWNSOUNDS AND HEINEKEN GREEN SYNERGY PROUDLY PRESENTS........

    AIM (DJ SET)

PABLO AND EL TOMO (FATTY FATTY/DOWNTOWNSOUNDS)

    Thursday October 11th
    Solas Wicklow St, 8pm
    FREE entry

Aim plays a FREE dj set at Solas next Thursday as part of the Heineken Green Energy festival, with support from Pablo and El Tomo

The Manchester producer has established himself as one of the UK's leading underground artists, releasing the critically acclaimed 'Cold Water Music' and 'Hinterland' albums on the renowned Manchester label Grand Central Records as well as remixing a whole host of artists including Ian Brown, St Etienne & The Charlatans.

Combining atmospheric strings and film samples with soulful vocals and warm hip hop beats he has carved out a huge cult following in over 12 years of producing and releasing music. The success of 'Hinterland' allowed him to form a 9 piece live band to tour the album to the four corners of the globe.

Having left Grand Central and launched his own Manchester based independent label - ATIC Records – Aim has just released the third album, 'Flight 602' which looks set to propel him to further heights.

He's also pretty handy with a set of decks and a mixer, as shown by his 2004 'Fabric Live' mix for London superclub Fabric and a sublime mix of Grand Central tracks he put together for the label in 2002. His club sets are a broad mix of funky hip hop tracks and the classic soul and funk records that are so close to his heart.

Pablo and El Tomo's wildly eclectic sets are a mix of soul, funk, disco, house and other late night psychedelic grooves and have led to high profile support slots with the likes of George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars, Dj Dexter of The Avalanches, DJ Cosmo and Metro Area.

    DOWNTOWNSOUNDS PROUDLY PRESENTS........

    52FUNK'S 2ND BIRTHDAY PARTY

    Kennedy's, Westland Row, D2

    Saturday October 13th - 11pm

    5€ before midnight/10€ after

Residents Job,Benway,Jimmy B, El Tomo and Louche All Night Long

Having previously run for a year in the Belvedere with guests including The Unabombers, The Glimmer Twins and Metro Area, 52FUNK was relaunched two years ago this month in the intimate confines of Dublin's best new venue The Underground in the basement of Kennedy's.

Whereas Downtownsounds' monthly party in Ri-Ra is all about exposing our favourite international DJ's, 52FUNK has concentrated on breaking our residents and other local dj's we think are worth a listen.

While we've had legends like Mr Fingers, Theo Parrish and Justus Konchke down to play, with Scando-disco upstarts Lindstrom and Prins Thomas to come before the end of the year, 52FUNK @ Kennedy's is all about our residents supplying all the cosmic disco, italo, house, electro and techno you could possibly need.....

Local luminaries like Mark Allton, Simon Conway and the Lunar Disko boys have dropped in to spin a few, with stunning live sets from the likes of Dancepig and Le Bien breaking up the 'two decks and a mixer' monotony.

It's been alot of fun and we think it's going to keep getting better. In this spirit, October's birthday celebrations will be all about a fine selection of our fine, fine residents getting up so you can get down.........

Here's Benway's classic ( to us anyway!) 'Melange474' mix, as good a snapshot of the night's musical policy as you might find:

and Fanto's brilliantly unhinged 'Too Much Rump to Pump':

    Other forthcoming DTS gigs:

Ri-Ra, Friday October 26th - LEE DOUGLAS (RONG MUSIC)

After MUDD'S visit last month, we welcome aboard the latest RONG-ster to bewitch us with his ace nu-disco productions for what should be a disco detonation of the highest order. We'll have a special guest playing balaeric nuggets and other oddities in The Globe too. Details in the next update

Here's a mix from the man himself:

    KENNEDY'S,SAT NOV 10TH - 52FUNK PRESENTS SWEETBACK,NIC KEANE AND PHILTH

Newbies Nic Keane and Sweetback make their 52Funk bows beside Philth, one of Dublin's most established DJ's who has been pricking up ears all over the place with his live shows as one half of Philth and Seki

RI-RA, FRI NOV 30TH - MAURICE FULTON (SYCLOPS/TIRK RECORDS) ALL NIGHT LONG

House innovator, slap bass player extraordinaire and all round cult genius Maurice Fulton returns to rock the Ri-Ra basement from start to finish with another one of his epic journeys into dancefloor badness.....

Here's a recent mix from The Gun Club in San Francisco:
