    ok i uploaded some pics , here just change 1 to 1-17. still have more on my mobile to come

    Now these pictures dont do must justice to the sight as these are only of about a 1/4 of the whole site.

    Looks great:)
    do you have access to the forest areas also or is it just the open tape-marked area?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 969 ✭✭✭MaxForce

    Thanks for the pics Eyes. They are great. The first few of the field, there is no access to the woods behind it. The other few of the track in between the woods and the forest I have access to the forest side but not to woods. We can use the ferns on the side of track. As Eyes said, there is so much more and a lot of it is over growen but there are great plans afoot for the site so watch this space.

    EDIT: Got to say I love pic 17. Whose foot is that sticking up? :)

    Sorry Maxforce, didnt make .... almost though.
    Got as far as Kilimer but got lost then, Had to turn back for Galway as
    one very low fuel needle and one wallet left behind :mad: just didnt allow for any more searching.
    Wouldn't mind but I probably past very close at some stage, weather wise it was a great day for it.
    Will definetly be there for next meet, which reminds me must order some bb's.

    Any suggestion on where to get some cheap camo and webbing. :)

    Good news on a new site. Only possible issue that might raise its head is Gtac vs. Gtac, who are UK-based.

    I contacted Gecko Tactical and they told they have no problem with me using G-TAC as long as I do not incorporate a reptile as part of my logo.

    ok, silly question (and completely off-topic),but how do those co-ordinates relate to latitude/longitude (in degrees)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston

    I'd imagine N = longitude and W = latitude, but thats a guess.

    I am not a map expert but they are what Google Earth throw up when I click on the place mark.
    53 Degrees 08' Minuets 56.03" North 8 Degrees 09' Minuets 23.25" West. I havnt a clue what the 56.03 and the 23.25 are.

    yea, was just wondering why maemo mapper kept directing me to lithuania, figured it out now i think

    this page gives you lat/long co-ordinates for any position on a google map, the co-ordinates for hrta2 can be written as both
    Latitude = 53.5385, Longitude = -6.2508
    and:
    Lat = 53 degrees, 32.3 minutes North
    Long = 6 degrees, 15.0 minutes West

    difference being the first is decimal, the second is done via minutes/seconds, so it's an easy enough conversion

    The first meeting for G-TAC will be on Saturday 27th. Entry fee will be €25 for a full day and €15 for half day. Half day will be from 1pm on. Registration will be from 9:30 to ten with a break from 1 to 2. 16-18 yo will be accepted only with parental consent in the form of a signed letter, verifiable by phone call. All players will be requested to sign a Waiver of Liability Form Befor been allowed to play. It is recommended for all players to wear full facial protection and all players are required to wear eye protection while in the play zone. Please follow all safety requirements and rules of the site that will be conveyed on the day. I would hope to have pictures of the location up when I have most of the work done during the week. Unfortunately there will be no rentals or ammunition available for this meeting but I am hoping to have some in the coming weeks. Make sure you bring provisions as facilities are limited at the site, but there is a shop a short car ride away. Make sure your batteries are charged as for the moment there will be no charging facility. If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me by PM. Martin
